My First Good Police Experience!

Hi Fellow Skyline lovers,

On Friday night I went through a RBT, I hadn't been drinking so I was fine in that regard. The female officer then told me I needed to go for a random drug test also. The officer reassured me it wasn't because of my car (I noticed they were pulling over pretty much everybody). The officer was polite and friendly, had a chat to me about the car and commented on how nice it was, we engaged in a conversation about cars and it was really relaxed and nice (it helped that she was rather foxy!!).

Anyhow, was really good to have a good police experience after being hassled and disrespected on many other occasions I wanted to say something nice.

I would like to end it by saying on the way out I f**kin reversed over a witches cone right in front of all of them and they just had a laugh as i awkwardly pulled it from my front bumper (how embarrassing).

but the cop was really cool, a male cop, was complimenting the car etc and they were all friendly.

i had a good police experiance also. I had just got my swift rebuilt and was taking it out for a drive. I was going about 110 in an 80 zone, cop came up next to me and said "mate, just dont do it again" and drove off.

i guess he saw i wasnt racing or anything, actually i was only going that fast to check the throttle response with the bigger throttle body and cams.

lol yeh my experience was funny, i sat and chatted to 3 cops and gave another cop crap

and he also asked 'so how hard does the car go?' i just said 'hard enough ' but same thing, pulled over and had to do rbt and drug test... was all good

Man, douche is an understatement.. My heart temporarily stopped beating, i felt like the biggest retard alive.. thankfully the guys next to me were babbling about cocaine and weed so it took the attention of my spastic nervous moment.

but most of us dont count being handcuffed and bent over the bonnet of a D's car as "good" Ryan

haven't had any problems so far, haven't actually been pulled with the GTR yet...

although if the cop's hot maybe I want to be pulled over

Best experience I had with a cop was when I was coming home from work around 2 in the morning and decided to hop through the industrial estate behind Yangebup as a shortcut. I was 17 at the time and had sleeping gear in the back having just stayed at a mates the night before. As I pulled out of the estate a marked car trailed me for a bit and pulled me over. It was an older english bloke and he introduced himself, told me what station he was from and that he was pulling me over because there'd been a lot of thefts in the estate lately - but didn't hint that he suspected me of anything. He saw the bedding and asked if I was alright and if I had a place to stay and after I told him why the bedding was there he bade me a safe journey home and went on his way. He was really polite, friendly and interested in my welfare. Kinda made be feel warm and fuzzy inside, haha

But I will add to that, a few weeks after I just decided for no reason whatsoever that I fancied a drive so out I went. A marked car passed me in the other direction, did a U-turn and came barrelling up behind me to pull me over. The guy was friendly at first but when I asked me what I was doing all I could say was "uhmmm, nothing really.. ermm I just fancied a drive". "Uhuh? Through the suburbs at 9pm on a thursday night?" So he gave my car a full look over, opened everything, boot, glove box, etc and he was starting to get frustrated. At this point another marked car pulls up and the guy winds the window down and says, nah that's not him and they all just took off without any explanation. I hate not being able to give a good reason for my actions other than being totally random - I felt well dodgy. I guess the cop picked up on that and as I was only young I felt that "just going for a drive" wasn't a very good explanation. Oh well, at least he didn't ask me to accompany him to the station

I had an interesting one when I was younger. I was working in Northbridge as a Bouncer and finished work at about 3am. I was on the freeway heading south to Mandurah where I lived at the time and was feeling pretty shitty as I needed sleep. So I did the right thing and pulled over for a nap.

I had been asleep for a little while when a cop wakes me up and says I can't camp there. I explained the situation and he gave me the green light to sleep it off for a few more hours. He even came back and woke me up at 6am before he finished shift and followed me to the end of the freeway.

Champ!!

There are some good cops out there so this is a good thread to read instead of all the cop bashing going on lately.

I got let off for speeding the other day during double demerits, pulled over by a radar for doing 8kms over at 2am down a fairly empty road. Had a short friendly chat and explained that I thought it was a 70 zone(which I did) and why I was driving at that time, he told my I was going "slower than most" and was contemplating letting me off with a warning, then he suddenly did and ushered me off quickly. It may or may not have had something to with his mate who was operating the radar yelling out "112!" before signalling in the next car

If anyone has a good experience be grateful, I've had 1 good experience out of 6. I don't drive like a dickhead, none were for speeding (although that's the reason one gave me, not to do with the fact it was about midnight in Rockingham) & I'm polite to cops, but it just depends on who it is that pulls you over. I've met quite a few good cops, and a few that take advantage of the uniform. It's a shame but that's life. Always show respect as in the end they are just doing their job, but in my eyes respect is a two-way street & if I don't get it I won't step out of line but I'm not going to bend over for them either...

#1 - Not slowing down enough through a roundabout, good cop who pretty much said you don't want a nice car wrecked by someone not slowing enough coming from the other way. Breath test, license check & on my way.

#2 - Small man with authority syndrome cop pulled me over after I went past them to the red light they were turning at, had a go at me just for getting out of the car & only let me go cos their car was holding up traffic. General shit-house attitude, would have definitely ended in a sticker if they had the time.

#3 - Old cop with no idea gave me a sticker for noise on gear changes (heard a bit of flutter through the filter as they were doing speed checks, no-one signalled to pull over except for him running from the back waving his arms), "doubtful tread on front tyres" which were fine, & fmic install because he thought the suspension springs were cut to fit it. Seriously. Took 5 months to get that off though...

#4 - Pulled over in Cannington one night leaving a cruise, not knowing the area I had headed the wrong way to go home & was turning right. Realising I'd get even more lost, I indicated out when the lights went green & pulled back onto the road. A cop a few cars back turned on the lights & asked what I was doing. Told him I didn't know the area & he said I was heading the wrong way. Erm, no shit I just told you that's what I realised so I was going to turn around when I could..... Anyway, had him & his partner talk me down, then both open my doors & glove box without permission, and already having a sticker pretty much gave a firm attitude straight back to them. Then when I left heading the other way, they drove that way as well. Highway patrol targeting cars not drivers FTL

#5 - Booze bus, waving everyone through & a cop at the back said on the radio to check out the skyline. Rookie loudmouth female cop told me to pop the bonnet, then while about 241 cops are looking in the engine bay said my 2 week old tyres were low on tread. Senior cop who actually knew what he was on about pointed everything out & was happy when I showed the permits & engineer reports, got let off but probably lucky cos they were trying to make an example for all the recruits.

#6 - Pulled over for not speeding in a residential area in Rockingham. Never mind the time, place or the fact I was doing 50 & stopping completely at 2 stop signs though. Given a sticker for camber wear on the rears which even though they were being replaced the next week it was fair enough & the sticker came off first time, but another poor attitude to target the type of car.

Ive had a couple good incidents too, was double demerits at the time and an unmarked car caught me giving it a little stick down a stretch of road (no cars behind or infront for a good few kilometers), pulled over, the younger bloke did a lap around the car whilst the english officer checked my license, comes back, the young guy gives him the OK and lets me on my way. Was pretty happy i probably would have lost my license/car if not most of my demerits.

another night on the same road i gave it a squirt, rocked up to a set of lights and an unmarked falcon pulls up next to me turning right, "Keep doing that and you'll end up losing ya license" the officer said, i think i said something stupid like "uhh, thanks" and drove off slowly. lol

There are good policemen out there just doing their job, ive yet to come across a foul one, but ill still try and be just as polite and respectful.

Coming back from work on a Saturday night around 1:00am, got send through the Booze bus.

Car in front of me (some riced Magna) got led to the car parks (probably over the limit), the 2nd car; Honda CRV got done for not displaying the correct P plates (they still had the old white background with red P one).

Don't know what happened to the cars behind me but from what I can see from my rear view mirror none of them made it through...

So in conclusion: I was the only import (& turbo) car in the queue but ended up being the only car that went through with no problem

Has happened to me though. Was in 33 GTR and 3 cars in front got pulled, chick copper waved me through (was cruising in neutral (late at night) so no chance of knowing skyline till too late )

2 Sets of lights later, pulled up next to an AU XR8 had a chat and he got pwnt

It's because of your intimidating demeanour and facila tatoos Nathan.

Who knows what is going on in the lives of these governement servents. They may have had a succession of dometic calls to deal with or some other kind of horror...or even a fatal to attend. Not all are arseholes and not all are as courteous as they could...just like everyone else. It's good to hear a story of a postive interaction
