Throwing this up in here in the hope of getting this done close to home.

For sale: 1997 EL Falcon XR6

*Body-352000km

*Engine replace and diff reco about 120000km ago

The good:

*4 brand new tyres

*New radiator, fuel filter and front rotors

*aftermarket exhaust

*Made roadworthy a couple of weeks ago, thinking that the certificate may expire before the transfer is completed, but in any case shouldn't be hard to get another one.

The bad:

*Small piece of surface rust on the roof(about the size of a 50c piece). Can be fixed with touch up paint.

*Tyres rub on the arm. I have been told that this may be able to be corrected with a wheel alignment and it is not a big deal.

*slight fluid leak from the diff

*came with a little front end cosmetic and headlight damage. I have repaired a majority of this inc a replacement set of LHS headlights

Should be able to get more pictures up later this week.

Bought this about a month ago as a replacement for my MR30 skyline, but after driving my MR30 on the weekend have actually decided I like the skyline better, and would prefer to upgrade to another R30/R31 instead.

Keen for swaps with an R30/R31 manual with low k's with cash adjustment but let me know what you have!

Other than that, if you want to buy it outright I am chasing around 4K neg.

got bored and decided record the new exhaust note

new exhaust

i'll stop whoring now. actually can you please send pics to me, the falcon should be able to tow a car yeah?

  • 2 weeks later...

Still got MT4 and R30. Will get to it when I get some time and money(soon hopefully :( ). Is it true you now have a DR30?

And the falcon's diff is now fixed! It didn't actually need to be rebuilt, it just needed some sealant on the thread to stop it leaking out the thread/spline after the seal had been replaced.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
