Hi guys, for a while ive been planning the next stage of mods for my R, after reading the forums for peoples advice and experiences, I think i have an idea of what i want. Just after some clarification or criticisms so i can make a start on purchases.

oh, jst quick, my car is rarely driven and never has or will be taken to the track/drags; after anything over 300awkw with more low to mid range power/reduced lag

Intake: Will change from my apexi pods back to the stock airbox; i have an apexi panel filter and a nismo snorkel.

AFM: Would my stockers handle this power level or would a nismo upgrade be worthwhile?

Turbine: Seems that 2860-9 would be the go as they are off the shelf and bolt-on.

Water/Oil lines: Thinking of braided lines for the turbos as the solid OEM lines possibly can move and rupture (found this out on my s15)

Intercooler: Keeping the stocker but ill have it cleaned out of oils/deposits for the best efficiency

Dump Pipes: As ive read many times, the stockers will be fine; might have the internals grinded of jagged edges

Front Pipe: Have a stock pipe on ATM, worthwhile for an upgrade?

Injectors: Will stock provide enough flow - perhaps a fuel pressure regulator to boost the pressure?

Fuel Pump: Maybe a drop-in nismo upgrade - is this required?

Cam Gears: Not sure about which brand; maybe HKS, tomei etc

Ceramic Coating: Turbine exhaust housing; worthwhile?

My current mods produce 255awkw: have a power fc, HKS EVC, Fujisubo cat-back, high-flow cat and apexi pods. Creatd motorsports tuned the car and ive been very happy so ill stick with them.

I know this is a bit of a long thread and alot of information ive searched for previously but im just after a quick final review by anyone who cares to chime in - would be much appreciated

Thankyou in advance

-Johnny

PS: here she is now sporting some new nismo skirts and rear pods - im also grabbing a Z-tune bonnet (finally)

Johnny

go the -9's

Use factory lines (best solution and bulletproof)

std dumps, make sure all heat sheilds are reused and no need to ceramic coat.

port match exh manifold to turbo mounting flange.

nismo afms (nicer resolution)

std pump

Upgrade Front pipe for sure

Injectors 555, 660 (std can be done for just over 300 but will be too close to max duty for my liking)

Cam Gears (see access autoworks)

killer setup 315-335kw easy (common outcome)

Great advice man, thankyou so much! ill start ordering parts.

Any particular brand of injectors and front pipe?

Answers are already given, but, you need to read this comment;

Your GTR, looks tough as all hell!!!!!!!!!!!!

A nice set of wheels and thats it :)

:D im glad to hear that man, didnt want to go overboard with cosmetics lolz but i will grab some volk lm-gt4's in black to fill the guards a bit better. Thanks man!

do you care about top speed?

download real car simulator, load up BNR34 stock specs with L tune and run on 1/4

then change the final ratio from 3.7 to 4.11 and see how it adjusts the car's acceleration

i bet it stands out at the bundy shops haha :D

lmao!!!! only ever at the CBA ATM or nandos

Hmmm well not really, ill have to check that program out; maybe a change in final drive would be worth looking in2. I never go into 6th gear, except when im on a freeway.

Thanks for the tip

lolz wouldnt want to be able to say: i go from 0-150 in 6 seconds. Now at 9000rpm im out of gears

it might be working look into, could be a cheap mod

i know snowman did it to his 34R to get more acceleration vs top speed

but not sure how it affects 5th @ 100km/h for example, it might make it rev too much and likewise may do the same for 6th gear @ 100km/h

Hmm might sound a bit daft but ill jump on my xbox later; forza motorspot 3 lmao!!!!!

hopefully snowman will post in his experience

He also changed the gearbox to the 5-speed so forget about that.

The R34 diff gears suit the getrag as the ratio's are different.

Do you have a link to this sim please?

http://www.paulr33.com/downloads/simr.rar

unrar and run simr.exe

no need to install

load pit, BNR34 stock

then change the tune to L (low tune i think)

then do a stock 1/4 mile and see how you go

then change the diff gears as you like

you can even copy the gear ratios from BCNR33 (write them down on paper) and edit them into BNR34 ratios

result is BNR34 with 5 speed ratios

only problem is there is no dyno feature, so all you can do is 1/4 mile at flat knacker

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
