Hi all, has anyone dealth with Southern Special Vehicles? They are importer for Nissan cars but they also do a small volume of other makes. Just want to get some feedback on them as you know some importers are dodgy. I am interested in a V35 they have there.

Appreciate all comments. Cheers

I looked at a Supra there before I got the 32, nice blokes, let me test drive etc, had a knock in th esteering apart from that it was good condition, they also get in 260RS Stags every now and then. I've heard no bad stories about them yet. They bring in a lot of JDM vans and evos

I think if you do a search, you will find some feedbacks of a few importers around Melbourne

There has been a fair few threads about it.

As Charles says, do a search, at least a couple of threads on this. Good wrap.

I bought my very first car there R33 S1 did not miss a beat, if i had a problem they would do everything possible to make it right, traded it in and ordered my stagea from japan through them not a single drama as far as cost etc and the car is sweet, i cant recommend them enough

Thanks for the replies guys...

I found them to be quite trustworthy too. But they only take about 1k off their advertised price though. Did you guys manage to haggle much at all?

I got about $3K off $40K. They are a small family run business that select quality cars for importing. Based on that the savings they can pass on will be lower than somewhere bringing in cheap cars and marking them up. Depending on purchase price, $1K doesn't sound unreasonable on the surface.

Great to deal with... went there when we were looking for an Elgrand.

At the end of the day they are car salesmen though. They did try and advise my father in law, after we got our Elgrand from JSPec and he wanted one and went to see them, that we would never be able to register the one we got in VIC and especially not as an 8 seater... wrong.

great cars there - i nearly bought my r33 from them

someone mentioned trade in - i might look at that actually - cos no one is buying my r33!!!!!

I'm not so sure about a trade in.... They offered me 5k lower than what I actually sold my R33 for lol...

bought an R34 from there today (by the way hello all, new here)

spoke to Peter Evans who was the one selling us. they moved about 4-5 cars in order to allow us to test drive, reasonable guys and seem to be into customer satisfaction a fair bit. have heard a lot of good stuff about them and the cars they sell are in good nic.

What's the rebuild got to do with SSV doing my compliance?

I didn't even import through SSV and I have no issues with Prestige Motorsport either, I had a wonderful experience with both importer and compliance workshops.

The engine went on me while I was on track, nothing to do with them at all imo.

ahh... track, i guess that kinda explains it.

didn't even mention geoff??

it's good to hear there's actually a reputable import yard around. the majority play their part in giving the import industry a bad name.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
