What the hell wait up. I thought there was only two of them built, one of them is with Holden and the other was bought by old mate in Cairns for $900k. So which one is that?

Yep. Most expensive car sold in Australian history. $920,000 if you want an exact figure.

Hence what the f**k is one doing on pickles auction site. It is either the one Holden owns (which the said they would never sell) or Chooka in Cairns is selling his.

Hard times at Holden I guess. guess the value of your mate's car just dropped :(

Lol I doubt Holden would be selling their only proof of ever building one (assuming they don't have one hidden some where that no one knows about).

It's most likely Chooka's or something, I dunno. Or it could be a very good replica.

F**k im an idiot! After looking over all the photos it is a replica :(

Key points:

Engine bay - That aint the C5R 7.0L with a carbon fibre trumpet manifold not to mention all the other differences (strut brace, throttle body, coolant overflow bottle, firewall heat insulation etc etc)

Registration - Can't be registered but it says it is

Seats - No red inserts on the seats

Fuel cap - not the silver aluminium one

And a bunch of other minor differences. Very strange that they haven't written "REPLICA" or something anywhere.

Well that settles that, im off to bed.

The mystery case is open again... LOL

Will we ever discover the origins of the Holden Monaro Test car at Pickles auction? Or will the mystery go unknown once it is auctioned off?

Stay Tuned! on SAU! :(

Dont know where you get the idea that its a replica.

Its the real deal.

I have seen this car and its the one and the same

I dont want to sound dense here guys but what exactly is this car ?

Cheers boys,

Mitch.

Its a kind of impractical taxi with only 2 doors and very poor fuel economy. The ultimate example of why there is no point putting lipstick on a p1g.

I wouldn't bet on it being a replica - given that there were only two built, there's every chance they're both unique in terms of specs.

Well shit there you go. Never realised that the two cars were different. Kind of sucks that for $920,000 there is so many things missing on that car. The trumpet carbon fibre manifold is a work of art on the other one.

Wonder how much it will sell for....

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
