Other than that it's the reflash.....which cannot be to much longer......I F#$KING hope!!!!

just a heads up....I dropped into SAS yesterday.....they have been invoiced and paid the guy making the reflash unit for them.....meaning the box is in transit.....I hope!!!!

P.S. This bloody Vodaphone ad at the top of the page is really begging the F#$K me off!!!!! :P

Interest to hear back on this! Any ideas on rough time frames? :)

I called Boost Worx yesterday re: ECUs and where we were at, They'd decided no dice on the Haltech and given what I want to accomplish they now think we could get by with an Apexi AFC, they're going to suss out prices on Monday and get back to me but ballpark they think itd be about $650 for the uni and $400 for the install and tune.

Interest to hear back on this! Any ideas on rough time frames? :)

I called Boost Worx yesterday re: ECUs and where we were at, They'd decided no dice on the Haltech and given what I want to accomplish they now think we could get by with an Apexi AFC, they're going to suss out prices on Monday and get back to me but ballpark they think itd be about $650 for the uni and $400 for the install and tune.

From memory dude, the SAS ballpark figure was around $1200 - $1500 but that includes the ecu chipwork and a set of dyno runs to achieve desired outcome, any subsequent tunes that are required (due to further mod's etc) will be at a cheaper run but will obviously require dyno time etc.

Big bonus is it won't void any insurance contracts etc as the mods are fairly much invisible, unless they open the ECU up and know what they are looking for.

I'm glad you double-hecked on the Haltech, would have sucked to have gone to all the trouble and find out that they had picked the wrong hardware. Lucky you asked eh?! When it comes to the M35 it is best of not assuming that any workshop (unless they are familiar with the M35) know what they are talking about. Some make general assumptions only to find out that the set-up is very rare and not the same as V35's etc.

AFC is not a good idea... Wait for the reflash results.

Not a good idea full stop, or just compared to the flexibility offered by a full reflash? I dont plan on doing anything crazy with my car with respect to mods (it already has a high flow turbo, fitted before I bought it), but it just seems to be running rich - I get 17-18L/100 irrespective of driving style and I really wanna get that down a handful L per 100.

All M35's run rich, just nissan being over cautious (or doing a shit tune) or both lol

My main aim first reflash around is to improve on efficiency, once the turbo, dump, possibly intercooler and exhaust are done it could be a different story.

The option I'm opting for at the moment for the reflash will be a duel switchable system, i.e. a conserative tune for fuel efficiency and mild performance (the kind of setting you would put it on when it goes to a mechanic or your parents drive it etc.) and a optimised performance tune for when you don't care about how much fuel is evaporating lol. At this point in time they are unsure if a switchable system can be achieved, I'm hoping it will work out but only time will tell.

Have you done the basics? I would suggest cleaning the airflow meter, changing plugs, replacing O2 sensor and checking all the intercooler pipes for leaks etc. The AFC simply bends the airflow signal doesn't it? But you are changing timing and fuel together with this setup.

The point I was trying to make is, if there is an underlying fault causing the excessive fuel consumption and you go modifying signals to "fix it" once the original fault is fixed (like plugs changed or dirty airflow hotwire) you could possibly destroy the engine.

How many K's does it have? My plugs, the electrode was completely gone after 75,000k. I would suggest cleaning the airflow sensor, tightening all the clamps on the cooler hoses and changing the plugs at a minimum, especially before a tune. Your economy is very poor and can only be improved with a bit of maintenance, don't be scared the plugs aren't hard to change by yourself.

I have my car in getting some mods done at the moment and everything was going grate till I get a phone call saying that they think my E manage might be faulty. Now the only thing I have done is to change the battery about four months back and when I went down to check on how it was going they had a charger on it.

The questions I have are.

Would changing the battery or putting a battery charger on cause any problems with the ECU

(E Manage in this case).

    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
    • When you say your cams are 272/262 is that 272in and 262ex?
    • We're arguing semantics. I am saying 45 accel and a 55 deccel ramp are "2 ways". Even a 45 degree ramp and an 89 degree ramp is "2 ways", because it is literally... two ways. The cusco 55/30 ramp is a 2 way. It's two ways. I get it though - in normal nomenclature a "2 way" would be 45/45 or 55/55 or 60/60 i.e the same locking in both directions. And something like 45/65 would be considered "1.5 way". I would then say if we're getting into the nitty gritty then every locking diff is a "2 way" diff and we should not speak in 1.5, or 2 ways but ramp angles instead. Which ofc if one of those ramp angles is 90deg, that side is not doing any locking. :p So Nismo don't obviously sell 3 things. The fact of the matter that they only sell two items really goes to show that there's a 2 way and a "1,5 way" which is really a 1 way. I believe the actual lockup for the 'adjustability' of the GT pro is really just setting preload for when the ramps actually start locking up. It's not changing how much 'wayness' there is. It is (somehow) horribly explained. People just buy whatever diff and go "locks up good bruh" and that's what ends up on socials forever.
