Hey tommmo hows the motor going its been a few weeks since last update did she start up alright? Keen to hear the news.

well the good news is, the car has got a sweet running heart again!

the bad news is.. ive been sooo busy over the last 2 weeks, i've only had time to drive it home... thats it!!

keen to take it out this sunday, and then due for a proper tune up friday week

got home after work last night and just couldnt help myself.. picked up the keys and went for a nice drive to hahndorf

I must say Paul has done a fantastic job :3some: its very quiet and smooth..... until I put my foot down and you hear its growl via the exhaust.

I had the biggest, cheesiest grin on my face driving back down the hill.

Cannot wait until the tune next week!!!

Coming home along portrush rd, I saw headlights speeding towards me in my rearview, I automatically thought "great.. gonna get pulled over and harrased by the po-po first night out" turned out to be an fpv, he pulled up next to me.. revving whilst driving side by side, trying to get my attention.

I didn't respond, douche then floored it, lost traction and almost lost it.. friggin idiot! Where's the police when you need them?

The popo are where you don't need them and when you need them they take 30mins to an hour

On the other note. Good to hear that your car is back up and running again mate :D

picked my r32 up to start running-in last thursday, only driven it home so far

but was amazed at how strong the fresh Rb26 engine felt.

definately a heap more power than my Rb25

even with only steel-wheel rebuilt turbo's the power/punch is pretty brutal.

hoping to get out for a few days driving (running-in) soon. then can get back to boostworx for the tune

Updates?

Few things came up (not car related), hasn't been tuned yet.

Its at the workshop:

Injectors installed

Fuel Pump installed

AFMs installed

PFC installed

Ready to rock'n'roll!!

tuner is away until friday though, will hopefully have a result then.

Not entirely happy with the tune.. Terrible on cold starts, need to turn ignition over twice before it starts, when it does, timing is all retarded and drives sluggish.

A lot better when it warms up, but still a bit hesitant when just cruising along at 2500rpm. Not sure if this has something to do with the larger injectors? When foot is 3/4 or flat on the throttle, it does pull very smoothly.

I'd like to see final boost setting around 22psi and lean it out a bit more, noticed it's chewing through petrol pretty quickly at the moment!

John does know what he's doing..

you're right.... i've been going there for a few years now, he's always been good.

Might give him another crack at it, just give him a de-brief of how its responding on the road etc

    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
