Hmm okay, i was led to believe (by mechanic) that its now running rich due to pump, he even offered to swap it back for stock one... maybe he wanted more work.

So why is my car running rich now with hi flow turbo, when it used to run slighly lean on stock fuel pump and stock turbo...?

The hiflow turbo will be using a completely different part of the tune. Without seeing which cells it is using and analysing that I am not sure what else can be done?

The only time you will see things become richer is if the pump you are taking out is dying and unable to meet demands.

Okay, thanks.

maybe your old fuel pump was rooted causing it to lean out. now with a decent pump it will be running richer

if you want better times, get an FMIC and some good tyres asap.

EDIT: beaten to it. but as said, if you're dead set on your current ECU, then sort out the other issues

Yep, ill do that for now.

I dont want to get nistune now, because the turbo is capable of 260kw so i wanna upgrade injectors and z32 together with nistune. Im not financially ready for that now. But good to know.

What boost are you running on the hiflow? Have you tried dropping it down to a comparable amount of air to the stock turbo you were running before. Then you can prove that its the tune or something else.

i ran 12psi, 14 and 17, all safe afr's.

Ye, for now ill stick with it and get cooler and better tyres.

After, i might upgrade the lot, ecu, injectors and z32.

So how bad is it to run around about 11 on AFR's? Obviously not ideal, just trying to understand...

you dont need to have heaps of power to get a good run in, i ran a 13.9 in my R33 and it only has:

3" catback, pod, 9psi, walbro FP, stock ecu, side mount, stock dump

i was pretty happy seening i was running shitty old tyres :P

please post 60' and mph for an accurate comparison.

Hi i have a simliar setup to you,

stock BOV

stock ECU

stock turbo

HKS EBC set to 12 psi

pod

trust m-spec fmic

splitfires

3.5in exhaust w/ screamer

highflow 3in xforce cat

walbro 255/L (500hp) intank fuel pump

denso spark plugs

on a dyno dynamics dyno it's done a 194kw or 261hp

ive yet to take it to the drags, but i wont expect too much, especially with my skinny little 225's on.

runs really rich, saving up for a vipec or powerfc atm..

i think he's starting to come around... he agreed with me at least on the point of setting up the car better. and he's intending to go nistune at some point, so being a bit ignorant of the limitations of his mine's ECU isn't so important in the long run

I had a similar set up like you 8 years ago,

Small Supra front mount, stock bov, stock turbo, jap exhaust, boost to 12psi and i ran 13.6 at Calder on a slightly wet track with sumitomo 225/45/16 but that's because my 60ft time was 1.999 something.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
