@ Chris - Basically do the good old screw driver test on the sill. You'll see if and where its buggered pretty quickly. I found that mine had rusted through a couple of panels near the dog leg. I dont know if its common for them to rust out around the wheel arch. Mine looked like it had been dodegied up in japan.

Just be prepared - once you start digging you might find shit you dont want to deal with!

This car is in Holsworthy? and i didnt know?

Mine is one suburb away. If you need some ideas for what to do next lol

Also if you change your mind about pulling the engine i can help you do turbos in the car, its not too bad a job just takes a while.

Cheers Jeff! Would be sweet to catch up at any rate! The engine is definately coming out - I just seem to keep having set backs... My mechanic's father just passed so this week is out, and most likely next week as well... The gearbox is getting a freshening up...

Whats done to yours?

im loving this

i should say hi next time i drive down to sydney

The car spends a lot of time in coffs harbour if you want to come a little less of a drive :) I work there Tuesday -Thursday every week...

Quick update:

Due to the amount of driving I do I wanted a slightly more comfortable pew to park my fat ass on. I bought a pair of 32 gtst front seats and through the drivers in. Well, I am honetly uncertain if it is very comfortable - its hugely high compared to the gtr one. I think I'll be switching back to the gtr one soon.

Engine out update - 11th october. Box and engine will be out and the upgrade done. box is going to get a freshen up to. Will post pics and mabe a diy for pulling the engine and box.

know your pain mate i had the same drama in my 32 gtr especially if you had to drive a long distance for me it was 3hrs both myself and a mate get very uncomfortable after the drive.

I have been looking into a couple of options for seats. I would love to go with a VELO seat, but I cannot find a reclinable one (they're ADR approved).

All the other comfy quality seats are not ADR approved - well at least none that I have found. I wouldnt mind some of the OMP seats, but again I run into ADR compliance issues. I dont want to drive around with an illegal seat in the car as it attracts enough attention - and luckily I havent had any issues with the boys in blue since owning the car.

I had a commodore for a daily before and it bored the living crap out of me... I am willing to pay for a great pew to park myself on, just have been caught so far... I could be like you and buy a twin turbo supra to cruise around in :(

I'll find one soon I hope... I will enjoy it more once the engine is complete :)

I finally got off my arse this weekend - well kind of, was pretty sick but have wanted to do this for ages.

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
