zebra im not looking at a new ecu to make more power, 340klw at the wheels is plenty for what im doing with the car im just after better drivabilty i feel AFMs are just not consistant at giving accurate readings for the ECU which results in the car feeling sluggish at times, and yes they are new items.

choyda did yo have a powerFC before u got the vipec?

keep us updated on how your car turns out matt

cheers for the feed back guys!

Fair enough, Although many people say they loose drivability going MAP based with GTRs, they are bit tempremental in regards to where the MAP sensor is plummed into.

Hi,

I had the stock ECU and changed to Vipec to suit my mods. I did have a Power FC (no d-jetro) on my GTT. Certainly with the vi-pec the car drives like its standard (smoothness wise), seems to cope with different temps, cold starts, humid days much nicer than my Power FC did.

The tune also gives me surprisingly good fuel economy for a GTR anyway. I didn't have great economy in by GTT... could have been the tune though.

Not using the TPS as a correction with a MAP sesnor.

Guilt-toy is the v88 a plugin? if not do i need the v88 or will the v44 be fine?

V44 will be fine for a road car...same as we run in our street/circuit gtr with over 450awkw.

The only advantage of running a V88 is its direct fire ignition and the fact you have heaps of inputs and outputs for control/sensors etc.

Interesting, I need to go for a drive in a Vipec car that has had 1-3 hours of tuning. Be it Motec, Autronic, Microtech or Wolf (Never been in a car with a ViPec) the MAP sensed and tuned cars traditionally seemed to always require more dyno and road time to get the tune to the point where you got the drivability of the AFM Pfc and the fuel economy.

I do believe about 75% of it is in the tune and 25% of it the ECU. So if the ViPec and some of the softeware allows it to be quickly tuned and accurately tuned then that is a big bonus.

I have a Vipec V44 plug-in on my Stagea 260RS (R33 GTR engine). I also had the problem with the aircon clutch relay, but it's easy to fix. I believe the next runs of ECUs will have a fix for this anyway (if it's not out already). Either way, it's no biggy. Yeah, you don't have to wire in a wideband O2 sensor, but there are heaps of features you can access when you do. I just picked an Innovate one for $200, so will be wiring that in soon to trim my tune a bit more. I went from stock ECU to Vipec and it really does drive as smooth as stock. Mine has been tuned as mentioned above. 2 maps, 1 with TPS vs RPM and the other MAP vs RPM.

    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
    • Ah coolant overflow, previous discussions make way more sense now lol.
    • ok. Yea, then I would need to remove the turbo and weld an adapter on to it instead, if I fuc* this one up.
