Hey all,

I know this is another thread, but still... it can't be too bad for us all for future reference. I'm wanting to know what these connectors are for and also what these little black boxes are.

All of it is from underneath the dash. mostly from centre area and toward passenger side.

I believe that they are for stereo, a/c & heater controls, glovebox light, possibly the sensor for a/c??, cigarette lighter... but there's more than just those - can anyone identify these at all???? They aren't connected an i believe they're not required, but i dont want to cut them out until i get some feedback.

cheers.

1.

Left to right

CD Player - i believe this is for steering wheel controls or something...plugs into factory deck, but aftermarket harness adapters dont utilize it. Does NOT control antenna, lighting, dim lighting, etc....assuming its for controls.

CD player, main harness (yellow = 12v, red = acc, blue = antenna)

Light for cig lighter, or ashtray....or it might be the harness for a lead that connects into that, and lights up the PRND21 for Auto's.

4:

Dash cluster (speedo, tacho, etc)

7:

One of the modules under the steering collumn...that might be time control module (responsible for locking doors when moving), turns light on the roof on when a door is open, emmits door open light on dash, etc.

8: That's the little f**ker that beeps @ 105+ kmp/h. Located same plase as #7

Not to be confused with the reverse beeper/door locked/open + keys in ignition/lights on beeper (which is behind the far right air con vent.

9: Same location...not sure, this would be another time control module, door locks maybe.

I've read that cutting these can cause problems with central locking / alarm arming, and confuse the ECU with HICAS shit somehow.

Best to leave those little ones except the speed warning connected.

10: I beleive is a relay for air con ?

Now then, post pics of drifter or ban

Thanks Nic (btw thanks again for the dvd i'm just about to start reading the instructions!) - that's definately a start! I forgot to mention that I have re-connected most things that are staying, including: dash, hazards, indicator and wiper controls, wiper control relay...

1 - ok - that's going!

2 - white female connector 2 pin - 1xblue wire with white trace, 1 xblue wire with red trace ????????

3 - big grey square???

white female connector 3 pin flat ??????

white female connector 4 pin square ??????

white female connector 4 pin flat ??????

4 - ???? It's not dash cluster - that's all plugged in. would it be for the aircon/heater controls???

(from left to right)

black female connector ?????

black female connector (wider) ????

white female connector ?????

white female connector (wider) ????

5 - black female connector 2 pin ????? cigarette lighter power ??????

6 - white female connector 5 pins - plugs into another connector a short distance away ???????

7 - white connector plugs into small circuit board????

8 - awesome - that's going! (and i can probably identify that other one on drivers side) :ermm:

9 - black box - other side is just blank ???????????

10 - nice. can this be confirmed???? if so - it's going!

1. -

2 Could possibly be the trigger for brake lights, or goes onto the full throttle sensor behind the pedal.

3 If this is close to the ECU side, might be a relay ?

Looks like relay to me...

4 Must be for air con, now that you mention it.

5 -

6- Possibly for the speaker behind the air con vent, that goes off for lights being left on, door locks, etc.

7, 8 & 9 just leave connected, all those modules under the collumn work together to do alot if different shit. Just disconnect the speaker for speed, but judging by the amount of sound deadening (or lack of) and the cockpit buttons, I'd say you probably won;t be hearing it anyway.

10 TBC

thanks again - definitely looking for more help with these if possible ;)

KRIS your input would be great aswell!

and Nic - pics as requested!

Faaaark you are full on Huddy!

I see you have the same tubs as that S13 on ns.com - Ben I think his name is?

  • 3 weeks later...
** Was this cef factory manual?

1 - stereo

2 - Foot brake plug?**

4 - A/C control unit

5 - Cigarette Lighter

awesome, thanks for that.

and no it wasn't factory manual so it has heaps of auto badness oozing out of it :D (so if you can identify more... sweet :( ! )

... and Nic - it's not my dash... just an example - mines cut to shit :(

Scratch number 2. I just checked it out and its not the same plug as the footbrake plug. although it looks very similar to the plug that is connected to the accelerator.

    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items
    • Funny, but really not funny. Thank god (most) f the world has moved on since then
    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side. I This is the jack I use; it says 75mm clearance but of course that is only on the lower section so if you have to reach too far in like the diff you still get stuck. https://www.snapon-bluepoint.com.sg/category/Floor-Jacks/product/Floor-Jack,-2-Ton-Low-Profile
