For me is the Mongoose M80.

Called up Stylyn Audio in VIC

Stylyn- Focal, MB Quartz, RockFord Fosgate, Alpine, ALARMS etc

268 Dorset Rd, Boronia - (03) 9739 8866)

They quoted me $250 for that specific alarm in my specific car (R32 GTS-T) (including remote central locking). $600 providing the alarm for me.

Still a bit of a shame cause found the alarm cheap here ($250) and this doesn't come with some accessories:

not really... if you have been at it for over 20 yrs you will see some shockers. most think an alarm can be fitted by anyone. it can. whether or not it works and does the intended job properly when fitted poorly is another question.

also do you honestly think that if you lowballed every shop for audio and security that these shops would be around for long. we have overheads and that comes out in what we charge for our jobs.

the short of it. if you have not got a clue on what you are doing - don't attempt it - pay a professional .

Alright so Chris, what's the lowest price as a SAU member that i can get the alarm fitted and installed by Stylyn Auto? (They provide the M80 alarm too). Need this done in a weeks time, thanks.

lol why would you ask another business how much it would cost to get an alarm installed elsewhere. Silly question!!

Edit: Also dont be cheap. Afterall your alarm will be protecting your car which is worth thousands of dollars.

Sid,

they will be cheap - it the nature of the beast to spend $20 securing $20K of car... then they whinge bitch and complain when the insurance company refuses to pay up.

LOL you may think it was a silly question but i thought maybe he remembered some 'special' quotes off the top of his head or something as they seem to know each other. I know it's just a fraction of the price of the car but not everyone is balling with money like you are :(

we do indeed know each other. we make it a practice of keeping pricing to our relevant markets. if you want a price from stylyn call them. that said I may be down there in a few weeks anyway.

I wish! believe it or not this is how I pay for a 30 year old house and feed my kid.

my stags in getting a gps unit fitted with remote start/shut off and all that jazz. i'll let you know what it cost me tomorrow when i pick it up. my last car was pinched so security is a big issue for me, i actually dropped my car off 120km's away to get it fitted by an experienced professional. there are alot of cowboys out there and ive had so many friends have immobiliser problems down the track from poorly fitted systems. It's your wheels bro, do it once, do it right i say :)

Definately well said about done once done proper. Rent-A-Tint (franchise) in Dandenong would do it for $550 and because i'm getting tints there as well i could get it cheaper. If you want more details let me know, could probably try a group buy type thing there if you guys interested :)

doh may have jinxed myself lol. if anyone knows if the nm35 stagea has a single wire to lock all the doors and close the windows (total close wire) and how to locate it you could save me a few bucks. the guys installing the system have said it will save them a few hours if i can find this out for them. Thanks (sorry for hijacking your thead lol) :)

who has the car? westend in armidale?

why did you buy an ebay alarm???

didn't get it off ebay, got it through envy systems (www.envysystems.com.au) , mate of mine bought one and had it fitted to his subi through them and says it's great. He had some kids break into his house and the first he knew of it was when he heard his car start, they'd made it three blocks by the time he shut it down and ll they got away with were a couple of cd's and the boost gauge they ripped off the dash. because of the system he was able to locate and start his car without keys and get it back in the driveway before the cops even arrived, can't argue too much with that i thought.

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
