I have come to possess a Genuine Garrett Ball Bearing T3/T4 or so im told.

Basically I want to determine exact specs of the turbo so I know what I'm dealing with and what I can achieve with it...

It has has a larger compressor housing than exhaust housing.

The comp cover is a GARRETT cast item And has "GARRETT A/R .50" casting

There is no cartridge ID plate what so ever.

And the exhaust housing has markings that I don't understand...

Sorry bout the newbie questions I'll measure the wheel diameters when I get a chance and post that info up as well to help determine size and capabilities of the said turbo

The turbo only made 210rwkw Which is strange for something that is physically much larger than the stock turbo but with good response (I think) I'm no expert.

as far as i know.. it doesnt really mean anything...

t3 and t4 are both different sizes of manifold to turbo flange

i think its one of those things that has just evolved over the years to not mean much and people who dont have a clue just go "awww cool"

a bit like a stage 4 turbo, with a stage 2 intercooler accompanied by a stage 3 intake!

i could be wrong, but its what ive been led to believe

why buy it and then check?

i know it doesnt help but it's madness and pure stupidity

its like buying a car with no pre-prior inspection or mechnical check

or imagine buying a house without looking inside it, building checks, land precheck etc

its prue madness

don't fork over your hard earned cash on bogus and bullshit turbochargers

do your research first and then if it proves to be good, buy it to your hearts content

does it even have garrett plastered on the compresor cover ?

This is called a Garrett TB34. Running a small trimed (48T?) 76mm comp wheel in .58 turbine housing. Sleeve bearing

wow, inpected rear housing and guess what .58 turbine housing

you know your turbos dude

why buy it and then check?

actually i didn't pay for it, I looked at it took photos and asked some knowledgeable people on the forums some simple question, wasn't satisfied had it inspected by Garrett only for them to confirm that it is a genuine GARRETT TB34 Turbo, genuine cast covers front an rear genuine garrent sleeve bearing cartridge .50 comp .58 turbine forgot the trim they're on a spec sheet in the car, in perfect as new condition, comes complete with dump/front pipe/intake pipe/braided oil line/water lines to bolt straight onto my car for only $300 dollars guess what I forked over my hard earned cash cos it is a bargain. and it looks like the main reason it only made 210kw is extremely poor boost control
yea i would agree, look at the sheet. it suddenly boosts to like 18 and then dies slowly from there and by time your in the top end your sitting at 12psi and the power line reflects that.

wow thanks for pointing that out guys. I don't quite understand dynographs as I've never been shown. I do know peak power and the powerline didn't know that was boostline, would you say this is laggy considering it's only capable of alittle over 300rwhp???

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
