And keep in mind that turbo x-trail's car started with an sr20. That makes life easier. But even then I'm willing to bet it's too top heavy for most performance lovers. (no offence man)

Sorry to disappoint, my car has a QR25DE and it's not a GT, but if it counts, the engine block is the only thing the separates a GT from a normal x-trail :)

But yeah, it handles like a sack of shit hahah :D

heyhey,

i need some help, now this is out of the ordinary, but im modding a hyundai excel,

theres only one reason.. its unexpected

im just curious where is the best place to find mods for this type of car, because not many people have done it before,

not many companys make mods for excels, compared to skylines and silvias.

if anyone could give me a few.. auto shops, which deal in body work, engine work

please let me know :)

cheers,

Jake.

step 1: burn it.

step 2: burn it again, just in case.

shit car, why bother? get a decent car. at least commos can become drag cars. excels are just FAIL.

NO matter what you do to the car, anyone who owns a silvia or skyline will laugh at you. this is unless you build an entirely new car and have a fibreglass excel shell but this wouldn't be an excel thus it would be good.

research on good quality japanese cars, silvia N/A is a far better far and p plate legal. also with lots of mod support in all areas.

haha cause its cheap! doesnt use premium, doesnt need special 22 inch rubber, doesnt need care, doesnt look conspicious, doesnt need to be watched every 5 seconds, to make sure no ones touching the precious paint, or carving there name into it, doesnt have suspension so stiff, that your ass bone turns to dust, and its quite cheap to insure, can i go on?

i have driven a model around that age. it was by far the worst car i have ever driven. it makes my parents VN seem like a million times better. no power steering, SHIT brakes, handled like a truck, shitty gear box. list goes on.

like i said, N/A silvia. doesnt need 98, runs average sized rims, common in manual plus parts are cheap. 2L non turbo is good on fuel and actually can handle.

putting money into an excel is putting into a fire because return on performance is that much of a waste.

mine runs really nicely, the gearbox seems smooth, and mine has powersteering, the brakes work perfectly, i dont know what youve been driving

buddy, but it sounds like your bullshitting

s13 silvias look like boxes with wheels, worst car ive ever laid my eyes on.

I've seen some nice examples of the s13s around, SOME, but most of them look like shit.

Then again, the excel doesn't look any better IMO, so i 2nd going silvia, you save more money in the long run, and when you upgrade, just sell the silvia off cheap.

It doesn't look like you'll listen to good advices so do what you like I guess.

Modification won't be cheap and is NEVER CHEAP even if you do the work your self. So your cheap factor is out. As for being an attention grabbing excel and the public hate towards stereotypical drivers of such excel, you will have people doing things to it so you will need to watch it for sure.

btw, why didn't you pick up an Suzuki Swift GTI? That thing will rip an asshole out of an excel and there are aftermarket support such as body kits, turbo kits, full built bottom ends etc. Xspeed just put a power fc in one and it made ~210hp, which is double of the factory 115hp all in a car that weighs 700-800kgs...

A friend of mine was like you... then he spent 15k on it, it looked seriously tacky and the power was an improvement over standard, but that was all. He tried to sell it for 15k..... then 10k...then 8k..... then turned it back to stock spending another 4k getting rid of the widebody and repaint(cheap shit job) and sold it for 5.5k...

Total investment:

car = -9k

Modification =-15k

Turn back to stock = 4k

car sale = +5.5k

Total = -22.5k and nothing to show for it except the roller coaster ride in his ego, ie. he thought he was awesome, reality bit him real hard when he tried to sell the car.

So, please save your money and buy an r32 gtr or r33 gtr with that 22.5k you would have saved if you didn't wasted on the excel.

and im gonna make mine a tad more powerful, with still the same cheap characteristics :)

Don't forget if slap a turbo on that engine, then wring its neck, you'll probably blow it. That's if you don't blow the gearbox or cook the clutch first.

You're talking BIG money just to get this thing reliable before you'll get any significant power out of it.

sell it and buy a n15 SSS pulsar. natro sr20, looks decent with a bodykit on it and can be modded easily and cheaply as there are a wide range of parts available for them. just don't put some stupidly loud exhaust on it because then you will just look like a dick (which you probably already do in your excel with twin 3" cannons).

look i am glad that you are honest and haven't thrown a tantrum yet like most 17 year olds would've after recieving so much crap in here, but lets be honest, you have bought an excel and are planning on ricing it up. 95% of the peoples heads you will be turning will be thinking you are a tool. 4% of the heads you will be turning will be police doing a u-turn to come and fine you for having a stupidly loud exhaust, and if you are lucky, the last 1% will think that it actually looks good.

Don't listen to the haters. If you want to have fun in your excel, go and visit these guys

http://www.excelrally.com.au/forum/forum.php

They have made performance suspensions and roll cages available cheap to registered competitors (although drivelines must remain fairly stock)

More than a few Excels have spanked much faster cars in the forest, including Silvias (no skylines doing it in the forest yet, so no results to compare). Excels are much faster on a race track or in the forest than they have any right to be. They are incredibly cheap, fairly tough and surprisingly quick when driven well.

The lakeside sprint day I attended a few weeks ago had stock[1] Excels beating a porsche 997 911, a Skelta G-force, Ford F6, a pack of Westfield / PRB clubmans, 300ZXTT, and a few V8 commodores. Not everyone had the same level of skill, and not everyone was trying equally hard, but even for a well driven excel to beat a poorly driven Porsche shows some of the potential these little buzzboxes have got.

Don't get me wrong - the Excel will never be a supercar, no matter how many $$ you throw at it, but well driven excels have thoroughly embarrassed many an exotic on race tracks and in the forest, so they certainly have potential.

If it's just noise and looks you're after, then I Agree with the otehr sentiments., Don't waste your time.

[1] AFAIK, mods are limited to springs and shocks (no coilovers) and safety gear. Engine, gearbox and diff mods are verboten, and although R spec tyres aren't allowed, I know that the fastest Excel was running A048's (was in the garage next to me)

    • I can ship Nismo floor mats to you: https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/nismo-floor-mats-for-skyline-r33-bcnr33-stagea-wgnc34?_pos=1&_sid=9278c1467&_ss=r
    • Here's the link: https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6642/misc/G49?frame_no=WGNC34-137122 What you think about it? The same product i found on nengun: https://www.nengun.com/oem/parts/40567/MiPwn5qAMfCfmpxHNDnwn5q9MDAx8J-QiW9sZC1qcC0xMTAtRzQ5LS0wMDE/Floor+Carpet+%2F+Mat+2/0688339eba149c19 Bot i have spoken to 😅 ensured me, that mats are 100% original, oem product. I have my doubts. I also heard what you mentioned, that nengun often offers items that are actual not available... On the other hand mats i found on japanese yahoo or ebay are in poor condition and still quite expensive so i'd rather wait for some better offers. My location - Poland. We literaly don't have ANY market for used Stagea parts so need to search outside Europe.
    • You can’t see much on the other side as the lcd is there I don’t think it’s the same as the m33 beside it as the markings on top is not the same was hoping someone had a good quality photo or if they just happened to have the unit in hand, quickly take the cover off and take a photo to clearly show the marking on top to identify the diode   the unit is currently with an electronics repair shop so I can’t take another photo at the moment hopefully they are smart enough to know if it’s a zener diode or not
    • I'd be very surprised if you can buy new OEM mats. But if you can, I want some too!  Do you have links to the variations you found? Also, where are you located? I found that Nengun is happy to list items to purchase but when you do buy them you'll get an email that it's actually discontinued. As far as I know the variations in floor mats are different colour schemes as well as automatic and manual having a slightly different shape. The automatic ones fit into a manual car without issues, but I think you'd have trouble fitting the other way around. I have photos that show the shape difference if you care. FWIW I bought sets of used floor mats in decent condition at yahoo auctions.
    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
