A speed zone is in place so that at the sign posted speed you are able to react accordingly to an obstruction or traffic (vehicle or pedestrian) in a safe manner, hence avoiding a collision or creating an obstruction yourself. This is the reason why construction zones and schools are 40km/h. The bottom line is the speed limit is not there to piss you off and be the cheese in the trap, it is there to ensure people get to where they are going safely!

I'm a fire fighter and I can show you plenty of material of why you shouldn't speed... even if it is 10km/h over going down a hill....

If you are stupid enough to speed you are showing blatant disregard for other road users safety, it is simple as that... maybe you just don't deserve to drive?

s15guy, this is an awesome forum hey.

and the stupid flamin mongrels that frequent it have a go at me for telling the dumb shits off that post absolute crap in threads...

Yeah I think I wont be using this forum for help or information. I think between my own resources and my GTR technician I should be fine.

I have too much self respect to be involved with hyenas.

Peace

Sorry dude, but I'm with the terrorists on this one.

Shannon's refusing to insure people who have lost their license 3 times in 5 years is what keeps my premiums down.

+1

Insurance companies have thier rules to benefit them, and us with reasonable premiums/excess :P

3 times in 5 years... ;)

That is 12 separate speeding fines (if under 20-30km/h)... Clearly someone doesn't learn - nor should they be on the road.

Clearly you are a liability, and insurance is treating you as such - Good on em!

One who CAN buy such a car is no fool in my mind.

Sadly you've proven otherwise in your very own thread :P

i want to clunk both your heads together!! 3 stooges style!

what did you expect would happen when you start talking down to ppl? makes you sound like a total douchebag. fake tan and all.

and of course you're gonna get hammered by members for losing your license 3 times in 5 years. that's what teenage bogans do.

Well if you're ever on the Gold Coast make sure you send me a PM.

He asked a legit question yet was flamed for his reason why Shannons knocked him back.

I'll admit that I speed and I am sure a lot of the forum members do. Some get caught some dont. But every flamin mongrel on here is happy to be a hypocrite and jump on the bandwagon to have a go at him.

yeah let's meet up, doofus. geeeeez, you're starting to sound like one of the teens now too!

who cares if he was speeding? i dont. but its expected that he's going to be given a hard time for such a bad driving record. cmon, who are you kidding? it's not a couple of fines.

the funny thing is, new member comes in, and then tries to climb all over everyone, pissing his way around, talking about his muay thai bullshit, and his fucking knitting competition for all i care. being a fkn condescending kunt the whole time.

and... this is the type of person you support, run to his aid, probably aspire to be. that's why you're very very hard to like.

If no one cared about his speeding then the thread wouldn't be 4 pages long.

I support people that have the guts to stand up for themselves and not let idiots try and tell him otherwise.

I don't aspire to be anyone but myself.

Lets get one thing straight here, I hardly know anyone on here and I simply do not care about people I do not know. If a forum member that I didn't personally know died tomorrow I simply would not give a flying f**k. That's the way I am and I don't use this site in the hope of making some friends.

And to think that I was crying when they increased may premium last year from $1254 to $1500

They also increased the excess to $1200

Pays to get one early before the insurance knew what the car was.

I still have all 12 points so that makes a difference

The hypnotism of the governments speeding proagander ads seems to be working very well on many members here

A better road campain would be thinks like RE-teaching the public how to negotiate a round about, how to leave a safe distance between the car in front, how to GIVE WAY CORRECTLY!

sure the guy seems to have a bit of a "god complex" but if he is a surgeon and I was his patient depending on him, i'd surely hope he didn't find out I contributed in crucifying him on the forums here....

Let him do what he likes, let you guys think what you like, in the end he has himself a $180k + car, driving the dream of so many other forum members. We can say what we like, but in the end he wins.... unless he keeps on speeding and one day the chances are the speeding will catch up to him and he won't survive to pay the $12k excess..... that or he can not afford the finance repayments and it gets stripped from him. Either way it is his decision and SAU forums tend to be becomming more of a negative place. Yes he is a knob for loosing his driving privilege 3 times in 5 years, but are we all angels as well?

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Obviously he doesn't win if he ends up paying $5k/year for insurance. I'd say most people on here couldn't care less what car you own but when you post the dribble he has then expect to be met with negativity. Believe it or not but having a 'super car' does not make you a better or more likeable person.

So they rejected an insurance opportunity with me on my new GTR because I have lost my license 3 times in the past 5 years.

Mind you 5 years is a long time and this country is THE anal place of the world for road laws.

Just wondering...have you guys had similar experience with insurance companies based on poor speeding history?

or do you all have clean driving histories and i should think about canceling my deposit on my GTR?

Have you tried Suncorp? I realise they own shannons but i think suncorp are just a bit hungrier for the business.

wow what a thread my wife and i chuckled all the way through !!! but what id like to add is yes some people in this forum are helpfully but i do find that most are just on here so sift through the treads and try to find someone to belittle and intimidate, and this is sad as i joined this forum to connect with experienced skyline owners that could help me with my inquiries so i can do the same in the future when i also learn about these cars. but most questions i ask that could be simply answered in a couple of posts turns into two pages of criticism and me fighting back (total wast of my and your time).

but on the other hand i do agree that Shannon's is doing the right thing by there paying clients by knocking people back that have lost there license as many time as you because driving a car like an R (which yes I'm jealous although i love my R id pay just to have a drive of an R) if you crash it due to speeding which u have stated you do , then Shannon's are looking at 10s of thousands of dollars to repair thus pushing up every one Else's premium.

I'm sorry you got such a flaming but every one has there opinion i suppose but i wish we all treated each other with a bit more respect ,

i hope you enjoy your car dude and try not to kill someone the first time you take it out to show your mates how fast 180K gets you !!!

well that is nowhere near what I said or meant.... and $5k/year on $180k is still a much better deal than what your paying anyway (comparatively speaking) if you convert that to a $20k car the premium is $555/year i'd call that a win, no one in the whole thread said the R35 would make him a better or a more likeable person...you made that up yourself.

John just proved what I said before, these forums are becomming way to negative and there is always someone here arguing that black is white and then making up things and twisting things.... :)

good point, didn't even think of suncorp, and I have a couple of accounts with them lol

    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
