That really is a nice colour. You need number plates with FNMINT as in flash green one eh. It's so good to see these old classics being restored. The Adelaide get together doesn't look promising for me at this stage. The car has been inspected and verbally given ok but my report is still a long way off. Once received I then have to submit it to the DPI ( Government Dept) who will then send me to the inspection station who will then give me forms to send back to the DPI. Also the union I'm part of at work has been striking for the past 11 weeks, so no overtime which normally funds my hobby. This could go on for months to come so extra money isn't forth coming at the mo.

Cheers mate, it's shit how long it takes for all that paper work to get sorted. I'm still unsure about the skynats but the Datto brother hood here in lithgow want me to go to datnats with them next year. sounds like an awesome weekend

what did the paint job set you back if you dont mind me asking?

paint cost about $800, $250 for use of the work shop/booth and $250 for the painter.

Very nice. Are you painting below the door sills in black? What engine and gearbox is in the car?

JH

Cheers mate, sills have been blacked out with stone guard. The old girl has still got the factory L24 and 5spd box for now.

...sills have been blacked out with stone guard.

What's stone guard? Is it a paint or some kind of stick on?

I can see fender mirrors and a spoiler in your sig picture. Have you got them yet? And from where?

Saw a mint green C210 sedan in Melb today. Colour looks great.

jhr001: stone guard is a spray on type, and the sig picture is just wishful thinking at the moment. I think it needs to be dropped a couple of inches before anything else.

That looks excellent. I don't know about pearl yet, I'm not convinced it's the way to go on a street car, as it's to hard to match if it has to be later. I think it's great that some of our younger generation is rebuilding our classics and not just buying technology off the shelf like my daughter did.

And your sticking with the period when choosing your wheels. Nothing worse than an old classic with bling bling bling new wheels. And when you want to think about motors, drop me a line if you want to go efi coz I got the bits hangin around everywhere and they will go to the scrappy unless someone can use them.

As for your surprize, as it's #2 I thought you would know what causes it by now. lol

Cheers, D

I like the picture with the kids cause in 15 years you can look back and say look at the skyline when you were born.

I would have liked a picture with me and one of the skylines (3) in my family when i was born, it would have been great.

Are you planning to go to skyline nationals in Adelaide?

    • Just had this happen to me too.  R32 GTR.   Also broke "just before going out onto the track" - someone up there is looking out for us... Very scary since I was about to do a narrow street course with zero run-off and curbs everywhere. Many people on here upgrading to billet uprights and R35 bearings?   Or buying new OEM knuckles?  I am not keen to replace with another s/h 30 year old fatigued part.
    • Top off with distilled water and see what happens. If you keep losing coolant then you know to start looking.
    • Nope.    Grab a varex and turn it down as you get close to home, win win?
    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
