Forecast for Saturday

Partly cloudy. Areas of light frost and patchy fog in the morning. Isolated showers. Winds westerly averaging 10 to 20 km/h.

City Afternoon shower or two. Min 6 Max 14

That pretty much means clear for Winton, but I don't think they will stop it anyway if it rains.

Had an uneventful ride home. Was an awesome day indeed! Ryan was pushing so hard on his tyres that his front LHS tyre literally had chunks torn out of the edge! Was very tempted to do the sprint comp tomorrow. It definitely shows you what areas your car is lacking in when you're pushing it that hard.

Was good to see everyone, until next time :P

had an awsome day today guys, unfortunetly my injectors were maxing out so i left abit early. saw 2 tmus on the way back hopefully non of yous got pulled over!

I took the other way back, through Merton to Yarra Glen. Some nice twisty roads there and saw no cops. Definately beats the hume which would've put me to sleep.

Anyways was a good day, I don't have a skyline though. I drove the vr clubsport that was probably slowing you guys down. Not surprisingly, my commodore forum had no interest in a track day, so I've been following this thread. Took about 200 photos though, so I'll find what skylines I have in there and post them up here soon if anyone wants.

your best option would be to use photobucket or some site like that put them all up there and link to the gallery, saves having to upload to multiple forums, plus im interested in seeing what else was there.

was my first time out on the track n all i gotta say is what an amazing day it was :)

deffs up for nxt round

i did take pics but unfortunately im capped atm so wont be able to upload for another 7 days :P

I think I remember you... not sure though... I had a dark club sport inbetween me and my possie when we were heading to Winton in the morning, it did a little 'squeaky' turning off the off ramp. Was that you? Anyway, you should have said hello.

Same with you Jason! I didn't even get to see the helmet >.<

Was much more awesome fun to know a few more people this time, makes the day heaps more worth it :)

MY KIDNEYS ARE KILLING ME!!!!! So are my legs... arrrrrgh! Damn bumps!

Haha yeah that was me, wasn't even intentional but ah well. Unfortunately none of my mates decided to go so I was up there by myself. Still a great day anyway. Id never been to Winton before, so I saw a group of cars that looked ready for some track work on the hume and ended up following you guys there lol.

Your R34 looked quite nice though

Hahaha.. there you go! Cruising as a group is always more fun. :P

Yeah the R34 is good, but the power's all up high... I was pulling most of the cars on the straight (which is actually quite surprising when you see some of the cars out there) but anything around 3000 rpm and below is a bit gutless and a lot of the corners on that track are inbetween 2nd (pinging) and 3rd (around 3k) so it's hard to choose. Had the tyres on 32 on the first round which was really floaty but changed them to 36 and it made a massive difference. Just need to find a way to get more bottom end power and maybe some grippier tyres.

Actually just considering to buy a GTR :)

I had planned on showing up to the meeting at 5:45, however I slept in by an hour and had no chance of getting there lol.

I was disappointed with mine on the straight. Of course I was able to catch the slower cars easy, simply for it being a v8, but I should have gone better. I also hit my rev limiter a couple of times, so I gotta raise that lol. Also developed some kind of misfire around 3k towards the final few rounds, so that put an end to my day really. Mines also pretty gutless below 3k due to the cam thats in it. Can get quite annoying at times.

It was really annoying trying to work out what to do on the corners. I tried to stick to the not overtaking on corners, but most didn't seem to care, and just wanted to push through on the corners. Really got confusing and I'm surprised there weren't more crashes. At least now I know what to expect next time I go. Probably invest in some proper brake pads, and a few suspension mods.

Also, be sure to check out www.ifpix.com. They should have a few more photos up in a few days.

when i was of track i always so u goin down main straight, oh well always nxt meet, but thx anyways for sortin it out for me

agreed, makes the day betta the more ppl u know r there

Was a great day :P

Could only do 3 laps per session till my brakes got to temp then I had to let everyone past me for a lap. Put in QFM A1RM's and new standard discs so I reckon the standard discs and lack of cold air ducting caused all my issues.

Engine started misfiring and pinging by midday, careless reassembly after tuning it the night before :)

Any more pictures?

Will post my snazzy iPhone pics soon, including the gold R33 VERY sideways.

Great day guys, wished I could have run but oh well, next time.

Gotta go the GTR Charli, you won't regret it!

    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics
    • Yea that’s why I said ima test them with multimeter and see the reads.
    • Only at idle. Isn’t a problem when rev it seems.
    • @Haggerty This seems silly to ask, but are you confident in your ability to tune the Haltech?
    • Next on the to-do list was an oil and filter change. Nothing exciting to add here except the oil filter is in a really stupid place (facing the engine mount/subframe/steering rack). GReddy do a relocation kit which puts it towards the gearbox, I would have preferred towards the front but there's obviously a lot more stuff there. Something I'll have to look at for the next service perhaps. First time using Valvoline oil, although I can't see it being any different to most other brands Nice... The oil filter location... At least the subframe wont rust any time soon I picked up a genuine fuel filter, this is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Access can be found underneath the rear seat, you'll see this triangular cover Remove the 3x plastic 10mm nuts and lift the cover up, pushing the rubber grommet through The yellow fuel line clips push out in opposite directions, remove these completely. The two moulded fuel lines can now pull upwards to disconnect, along with the wire electrical plug. There's 8x 8mm bolts that secure the black retaining ring. The fuel pump assembly is now ready to lift out. Be mindful of the fuel hose on the side, the hose clamp on mine was catching the hose preventing it from lifting up The fuel pump/filter has an upper and lower section held on by 4 pressure clips. These did take a little bit of force, it sounded like the plastic tabs were going to break but they didn't (don't worry!) The lower section helps mount the fuel pump, there's a circular rubber gasket/grommet/seal thing on the bottom where the sock is. Undo the hose clip on the short fuel hose on the side to disconnect it from the 3 way distribution pipe to be able to lift the upper half away. Don't forget to unplug the fuel pump too! There's a few rubber O rings that will need transferring to the new filter housing, I show these in the video at the bottom of this write up. Reassembly is the reverse Here's a photo of the new filter installed, you'll be able to see where the tabs are more clearing against the yellow OEM plastic Once the assembly is re-installed, I turned the engine over a few times to help build up fuel pressure. I did panic when the car stopped turning over but I could hear the fuel pump making a noise. It eventually started and has been fine since. Found my 'lucky' coin underneath the rear seat too The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44&t=6s
