hey boys nd gals i got a question how many cars are you allowed to sell as a normal person that isnt a part of a business? cause ive bought alot of cars and fixed them all up and i was gonna sell them but apparently my uncle said u can only sell like 3 cars a year by the government if ure just a private owner is this tru???

cheers.

Haha, list what you've got?

Like said, if you bought them on december 31, it doesn't count as current year - just hang onto them?

well ive got two both r33's 1 is 1993 gun metal grey standard mods with a bit extra resprayed interior manual turbo only done 106,000kms just gotta do a bit more work to it, the other one is another r33 but i duno what it wud be series 2? but its a 4 door and the taillights are not the same as the normal gts-t's its only done 68,000kms genuine... haha auto, turbo, pretty stock, just its been sitting around for a while just gotta do change the oil and all that sorta stuff to get it running again. in a few weeks ill probs sell the 4 door, im wondering how much i cud get for either one cause like... i actually want a supra now

ive sold more than 3 cars in 1 year, nothings happened to me :S

its just some myth ppl throw around to each other obviously started to reduce the amount of "backyard dealing" going on

just make sure that they cant prove that your making a taxable amount of profit via buying/selling/dealing cars, thats basically the principle you should be following, not a set number of cars

"im a fussy guy, im just trying to find the perfect car for me, ill keep buying and selling until i find the right car, nothing wrong with that?" is all you gotta say

ure pretty right snozzle that is me, i just want to find the car like skylines were fun and always my dream car the two door but when my mates come with they are like f**k man we cant fit in this thing so i bought the 4 door so i have them two now but what im realising is i want a supra now and i cudnt give a shit about space cause im just like omgggg sexyyyyy haha

It is illegal in WA to sell a motor vehicle strictly for profit as it breaches the Motor Dealers act, I am 100% it is a fact as I have seen prosecutions and a few people have been called into Dept of Commerce with a please explain letter.

We are talking blatant breaches here not sell a car 3 months after owning it but if multiples they are flagged, who imports cars and puts them in the Quokka a day or so after being plated and still unregistered.

Brokers also require a dealers licence in WA or they are also breaching the Motor Dealers act, all this info is available from Dept of Commerce Motor Vehicles Branch

i'd like to add to DRIFTT's post that this is to prevent people from making any profit off selling cars in WA so that the likes of John Hughes and DVG and AHG can continue to flourish, many industries are "stitched up" like this and our government can be bought and sold like currency.

(that's my opinion)

It is very difficult to monitor how many cars an individual is selling/buying, but at the end of the day, there is no limit per year.

However, there are special conditions if you wish to become a dealer. Ie, dealers do not pay stamp duty (vehicle licence duty) when they acquire vehicles; they just pay the transfer fee of $14.70. When you and I buy cars, we have to pay the full amount for stamp duty.

So, in answer to your question, there is no limit ;)

thanks for the info ill deffs take this in, looks like ill have to hold onto them for a bit longer haha cheers. im not sellin for profit but i just got heaps of cars right now, i buy them bung up to force myself to learn to fix them =D so then i gain more knowledge of cars out of force, but im sorta over it, just want a supra and thats it haha

It isn't hard at all these days to monitor how many cars an individual is selling/buying it is actually piss easy from what I have seen and yes there is a limit for selling cars for profit which is ZERO.

The actual legislation people are breaching is Motor Vehicle Dealers Act s30(1)

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
