Have you thought about contacting Ryan from ISC Performance. He sells the N1 coilovers and they're noice for the price. :rofl2:

He's also a club sponsor with 10% discount ... just show your membership card. And he's local, so he's quick with service and answering you questions.

I've had a set of these coilovers on my Stag for over 18 months now and no complaints.

:D

i have ISC coilovers my only complaint is there too stiff BUT you can choose the spring rates however i bought mine 2nd hand so had to put up with what the previous owner got

that being said when i got them the end caps didn't fit my application and Ryan changed them to suit without even thinking

EDIT

Ryan is this what the new N1's look like or are they still blue

Yeah steve that's what they look like now, they are pretty stiff for standard coiloves spring rates (8/6), consider bc coils if it's used mostly as a daily. Cheap and comfy while Doing the same as othe base level coils

I work as an Automotive engineer, and certify coil overs as for road use required by transports SA. Of all the ones I have Seen K-sport were the worst. The vehicle was a Z32 Fairlady (300ZX) the total suspension stroke was 70 mm approximately 1/2 of that was droop travel so from normal ride height to fully compressed there was about 35mm travel before the shock bottomed out and 30mm of that was taken up by bump rubbers.

so awesome 5mm of suspension travel before hitting bump rubbers.

And wouldn't you know it all 4 shocks had blown seals and were leaking and from memory he had them in for less than a year. Not surprising that they were all blown seens as they were bottoming out all the time

So when you say you work for dtei do you engineer cars for the general public?

Yes that is the new version of the ISC N1. They are also valaved approx 10-15% softer then the older blue N1 spec coilovers, this along with a suitable spring rate and 32 steps of damper adjust will see a reasonably comftable ride on the street whilst still being firm enough to head out to your local track days etc.

I bought a new set of K-sport coilovers for my 2006 STI , they lasted about 25000km of road driving and the odd track . both rears started spitting out fluid and started cluncking - shit themselves , performance and ride was average as well . i will never buy anything K-sport again .....

i think its a bit shit how people rate their coilovers. They are only as stiff as the chosen spring rates allow?

With local support and parts heaven forbid anything breaks, ISC!

Too true.......there so many half decent shocks out there that are ruined with nasty springs.......even my beloved Bilsteins can feel like crap if mated them with the wrong springs.

    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
