nsmo30tt
This isn't for my car it's for a friends 33, he wants to do a 25/30 NA build.. now this may be a very silly question but.. is there any cheap ecu option for this build as in using a 25det or 25de one or is the only way to go a programmable ecu or something like nistune? Thanks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328795-2530de-ecu/ Share on other sites
carl h
an rb20det ecu is a cheap way to go tunable ecu and can be remapped for your application, or if retaining vtc then use a z32 ecu. nsmo30tt
thanks for your reply, and yeah he wants to keep vvt so I'm guessing tuners should be able to tuned/remaped the z32 for this application? KiwiRS4T
May be possible to use R34 ecu if you are going to replace coils etc and you can get a whole loom and fit it while your engine is out... and Nistune that. Anyone done that? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328795-2530de-ecu/#findComment-5345618 Share on other sites

Anyone done that? Coils, CAS and injectors are different.. Might aswell just start with a Neo head.. nsmo30tt
well he already has a 25de in his car. so I thought that would be the best place to go from.. using that loom and head. cas etc Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328795-2530de-ecu/#findComment-5345728 Share on other sites
TiTAN
cheapest easiest solution is to install NISTUNE into a Z32 ecu, fix up the wiring differences and use that. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328795-2530de-ecu/#findComment-5345730 Share on other sites
TiTAN
well he already has a 25de in his car. so I thought that would be the best place to go from.. using that loom and head. cas etc he has an R32 DE head without VCT? or R33 DE head with VCT? if he has the R32 head, use the R32 loom and sensors etc and just retune the stock ECU. nsmo30tt
its a 33 head with vct.. which he wants to keep. could he just use the z32 ecu and get it chipped or tuned or would he need to get a nistune? (I know thats not the only option, but thats all his budget allows for) Also with using the z32 ecu, what are the wiring differences that need to be fixed up? bubba
Can't help with the wiring difference, it's most likely been documented on here somewhere, or send the Nistune guys an email, they're quite helpful. nsmo30tt
will a z32 one fit and run the car so it would atleast be drivable? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328795-2530de-ecu/#findComment-5345952 Share on other sites
nsmo30tt
well if it has a slight difference in wiring and that was fixed would it run then I mean Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328795-2530de-ecu/#findComment-5346194 Share on other sites
TiTAN
if you just want it to run, use the stock R33 ecu. then save up a little for the nistune + Z32 + install & tune. carl h
dont forget you'll also need a z32 maf if you jump to the z32 as its already setup for it and rescaling the z32 ecu for the r33 n60 maf is a pain. wiring is simple, 4 wires need to be swapped and 2 joined and 1 pulled. nsmo30tt
thanks for the replies guys.. for now hes thinking of either going 20det+nistune and ditching vct or z32+nistune Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/328795-2530de-ecu/#findComment-5348697 Share on other sites
carl h
my personal vote would be to ditch the vtc for a nice set of upgraded rb20 cams and a 20 ecu remapped to suit.
