hey all, ive owned this car for about 3 weeks, and it has a set of volk racing wheels, unsure on the exact brand, anyway, i cant get a socket or wheel brace to the nuts, the wheel nut holes are to small, where can i get a small socket to fit the nuts?

maybe buy some internal hex wheel nuts?

thats what i had to do with my '32. the nuts are M12x1.25.

i paid $40 for 20 of them and they came with a hex bit as well.

other than that Stahlwille make some very thin walled sockets but they are massivley expensive. try about $750 for a basic socket set.

you may need to get a good quality socket as the cheaper ones are too thick to go in. then as said above, get some of the allen key head nuts.

or you can do what old mate in the honda did and take to the wheels with a saw............ LOL

as for getting the old ones out, best bet would be to drive to a hardware shop, or a decent tool shop and explain to them your problem and see if they will let you try some sockets to see if they fit. generally your better sockets such as stanely, kingchrome, snap-on etc will make skinnier sockets because they are made from stronger steel so don't need to be super thick to make up for being weak.

some tool shops have those annodised slimline sets in 4 colours that have the plastic covers on them to stop the socket from damaging the wheels. these are normally long and skinny for this purpose.

DO NOT USE INTERNAL HEX WHEEL NUTS!!! Had these on a rally car I bought and after heating cooling and a few wheel changes (fair enough rally car gets wheels on and off a lot more than a road car..) the pressure out on the inside of the nuts cracks them. If you simply think about the pressure is being applied as you tighten and loosen you will soon see how easy this can happen.... It may be poor quality, it may be a lot of work and all the hot cold, but I will still never use them again

you more than likely have 13/16th or 21mm nut's, best bet is uselly to use a spark plug socket, these are thin in the wall

and will get you out of trouble.

Nissan use 21mm wheel nut's, head down to your local tyre shop and buy some 19mm nut's and you should be right

and i aggree DO NOT use those stupid inner hex nut's, the amount of these that i've had to remove is huge..

you have to drill the head of the stud, and it's a massive pain in the arse, and we charge $65 per nut removelly

The Enkei rims I got came with a thinner extension as most sockets cannot get to the nuts due to the wheel design.

I'm sure you can buy them somewhere, or you can take any of the above tips.

    • Are you suggesting that the kit did a cheap and nasty job of just jamming the wheel in between other things and caused the misalignment? I mean, we normally do this with an integrated crank trigger wheel, not something bodged on. It's not 1995 any more.
    • I mean, given the number of BMWs you own their tolerance for improper torque is rather low. The number of torque + angle spec bolts and non-reusable bolts in one is nuts.
    • Atmospheric vent requires something that doesn't use a MAF for load. You would need a standalone ECU for that.
    • Hey all,   I’ve got an RB25 with a trigger kit that includes a crank wheel, and I’ve hit a wall trying to sort a timing belt tracking issue. The belt either rides right on the edge of the cam/crank pulleys or walks slightly forward once the engine starts. It tracks okay-ish for a moment, then creeps right to the edge—and honestly, it’s stressing me out.   I’ve spent hours removing and reinstalling the belt, double-checking everything:   Tensioner setup is good, checked multiple times Idler pulley and washers are all in the correct places Followed the RB25 timing procedure step-by-step     The only thing I changed was the rear crank washer—I swapped the OEM one for a Neato version, and it made things worse. The belt now sits even more forward than before. I’m beginning to think the crank trigger wheel itself (from the trigger kit) is the issue—poor design or slightly off dimensions.   What’s strange is that with the previous belt setup, it actually ran fine for a couple of years—around 4,000 to 5,000 miles, even with hard driving and high RPMs. But even then, the belt was always riding right on the edge, and I know that’s not ideal or safe long term.   At this point, I’m debating whether to:   Machine a few mm off the crank trigger wheel to bring it back in line, or Replace it entirely with a better-designed unit     Only thing is, I already have the Cherry Hall sensors, bracket, etc.—I just want to replace the wheel only, not the entire kit. Anyone know a brand or supplier that sells just the crank trigger wheel on its own?   Would really appreciate any feedback—especially from anyone who’s run into this exact issue and found a reliable fix.   Thanks in advance.
    • Hi...a little refresh. Is Nistune gonna be enough to run BoV? Or do i need some proper ECU?
