can someone recommend for me what is the best oil for my GTT

it doesn't matter how much is the price, i just need to know what is the best to use for my diff and my gearbox and how many liters do i need for each,, thanks to everyone in advanced

btw i am pretty sure that the answers are on the forum but honestly i did a research and couldn't find my answers

yea pretty sure there have been many lengthy threads about this. i've read several of them and the crowd favourite is usually the likes of Redline MT90 or if you have crunchy gears then try Redline shockproof lightweight. as for diffs i'd probably go for the genuine nismo LSD oil. nissan dealerships should usually stock it.

I just put some Castrol Syntrans in my gearbox with some nulon G70 and its made it alot smoother. Its prob not the best, but for the price i think its pretty good stuff

For diff Ive been using SAF-XA i think the stuff is, Castrol as well

Never had an issue

There are prob better oils but if its just a street driven

Gearbox: Grab 4L, youll need most of it

Diff: is about 1.9L from memory

well it is mostly a street car, but it will be tracked probably not more than 3 or 4 times a year. i will get my car serviced for the 100,000 km and i just wanted to use the best stuff since i dont get to change the diff and gearbox oils that often. plus its never a bad idea to use the best affordable things for your car,,, thanks to everyone for the advice.

a quick question guys, i bought 5 liters of motul FF type 2 for my gearbox and diff,, now i realized that i am 0.6 liters short to fill the diff and gearbox with the right amount,,,, i went back to autobarn to buy one more bottle and they ran out and wont get more for like a week atleast and i cant wait ,, my question is can i mix something else with the FF type 2?? if yes what would you recommend and how much should i add in the gearbox and how much in the diff?? i was thinking 0.3 liter in the diff and 0.3 in the gearbox but if someone can advise i will be very thankfull

use the same oil... you cant mix oils its a bad idea

go somewhere else? repco sell motul apparently

thanks for the reply,, i went to repco i think they only sell motul motor oil cause thats all i can see on there shelves, i pretty much went to every store in newcastle and couldn't find any motul FF type 2

what problems did the last batch of redline shockproof have exactly? i just put it in my gearbox today.

Spitting it out of the breather. 3 cars all did the same thing. We even tried extending them to a catch can. They would lose half a litre approx every 20-30kms or driving. Would lose nothing on the track though.

We even tried pulling out a litre to see if it would still do it.....and it did

So we swapped it out for the Motul Gear Competition and problem solved.

I haven't been game to go back to it in case I end up having to wear the cost. No one will replace the batch under warranty for us

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
