Thanks for the explanation guys. That might have come in handy over the last 2 days. I drove my car home from Melbourne on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning went to collect the mail and put my foot down (not heaps) without thinking (RWD+Heavy Rain= Spin)and was shocked (I've been driving FWD's now for the last 3 months while waiting for my BMW to be fixed)

ah yeh.... one guy named La_Bomba did that ^_^ (You will see him around the forums)

Don't do what he does :(

Hi Everyone

Charlotte- Yay nice to meet another female owner, I haven't seen any other female owners so far, but I'm from Bendigo.

To everyone who LOLed at the title- Big emphasis on the age and and gender, I figured that would get a few people's attention, so people would comment so I could meet everyone.

Specs, Colour & Mods:

Specs: I can't find anything online much about the 25GT's pretty much everything I find is on the GT-T or the GTR's. I have the non turbo model because I'm on my green P's otherwise I probably would have gone for a turbo model. Redbook is pretty slack on specs as well, except for telling me that it is 17cms wider then a 1994 BMW 318I.

My car is totally stock at the moment, was previously owned by an Asian guy who had it imported, 120,000 KM's. 2.5 Lt engine (it's a 25 GT)

Colour: Metallic Silver

Interior: Grey Plastic with 2 tone Grey cloth interior

Rims: Stockies

Trans: Tip Automatic

Photos: None at the moment, I'll post some in the next few weeks.

Mods:

No mods so far (I've only had the car for 1 1/2 days) unles taking it to the car wash counts to remove the layers of grime and dirt (car was very dirty when I brought it, so I used it to get the price down) my car is in desperate need of a detailing, it's had no external love for quite a while but I have a few things planned. I had the car transferred into my name today, and now have slimline plates that are ***088 (my year of birth)

FUTURE MODS: I can't do anything to much to it, so all mods will be cosmetic because the cops are pretty bad in Bendigo and already stare at the P plate when I drive past....on the speed limit.

* Exterior Detailing, giving it a bit of TLC

*Sound System

* Hasn't got a rear spoiler at the moment so I'll be getting one of those

*Possibly a body kit

*Maybe silver dial rings

*Thinking about taking the sound matting from under the bonnet as it's a little hacked, and could do with a little more noise

* possibly a cannon if I can get away with it

*Mags

That's about as far as I've got in my thinking as of yet, would like to hear any other suggestions from you guys.

Some nice tasteful mods there.

But I must add...

Do not put a cannon - it will actually reduce your low end power (day-to-day driving), make un-wanted noise (in an auto it does not sound good) and attract unwanted attention from the boys in blue....

Rear wing is fine - for a sedan a lip spoiler or a wing from an R34 GTt would be fine. Oversize wings do not look good and also may not be legal.

With sedans - the trick is to keep the styling clean and simple - nothing too out there.

For a P plater.

eg.

Cosmetic:

- slightly lowered

- 17" to 18" wheels (Not the bling/rap star type)

- Factory bodykit

- Tinted windows

- Clear indicators or smoked depending on the colour of your car.

- Lip spoiler

Engine:

- High flow panel filter

- High flow cat

  • 1 month later...

Hey there.

Another one from Bendigo. We must have almost 5 members from here now :D lol

Looks like I'm a month behind. How is the New car going?

Don't stress too much about Bendigo Cops. I've found if your not doing anything wrong and your polite then they are quite fair. (You will get pulled up though)

Hence why you won't see me on the road much.

i reckon i got more than 5 members with in a 500 metre radius of my house haha.

im just f**king around lol

dont know why, but im sensing a troll

Me too lol.

Be careful with exhausts, to get a power gain on an na you'll want something small, not a massive cannon. Those only hinder low down power.

Ahh yeah, i remember that now. I see his name plastered all over the place now, I'd fprgotten the initial thread haha

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
