Recommended Posts

hey got bored and thought id start a potentially contraversial thread. if ya's didnt own skylines what would you guys own?

if price wanst price wasnt a factor id have

0. daihatsu midget

1. Nsx

2. GTO

3. EVO

4. s2000

5. FTO

6. Supra

7. s15

8. Skyline r34 GT

9. Impreza

10. Mr2

11. Soarer

767. commadore

824. falcon

if price wasnt a factor you would rather an impreza over a lambo?

why are you on this forum if you think that lambo's are japenese cars? LoL

"Fav Jap Cars? Skyline, Fto, Supra, Silvia, Mr2, Soarer, S2000, Evo, Gto, Impreza, Nsx" is the topic name

my fav

pulsar GTIR

GTR R32 like femno's or rosco's

GTR R34 like aaron's

evo 8 MR in dark grey

silvia K - if I really wanted a turbo jap car and only had $2 to my bank acct

supra like nigels one, twin td05's or 06's

the R34 in 2f2f, minus the stupid nos purge vents

Technically the GTO

Mitsubishi aren't Japanese anymore?

And slinky, seriously, an FTO before a Supra?!!

You totally lost me there. FTO's have to be the most 'orrible piece of shit ever to come of of Nippon.

For me it would be (off the top of my head with only a few minutes to think about it):

1. P510 2 door

2. R34 Nur

3. R34 V-Spec

4. R33 GTR

5. R32 GTR

6. Evo 10

7. FD RX7

8. NSX

9. Supra MK IV Targa

10. GTiR Pulsar

a GTO is more Dodge than Mitsi IMHO. Japan just built the thing for american use and happened to sell some locally as GTO.

Would you consider the R32 GTR an australian car? cos they sold 100 of em here.

Funkymonkey- GTO's are just as much of a Jap Import as the FTO's, as to whether Mitsubishi is still Japanese owned, I think they are....well at least I haven't heard otherwise.

Also the Midget, Commodore and the Falcon were gag items. I would rather shoot myself in the foot then drive a Commodore or Falcon....and I think I'd be to tall to fit in a midget.

Cowboy- the Supra's really need the turbo to do anything special. N/A Supra VS NA FTO (because they didn't come out with Turbo's, there NA with 150kw power)

I'll explain my choice:

* Love the stylish curves of the FTO

* Technologically advanced for it's day

* handles like it's on rails

*Amazing turning circle

*All auto's were brought out as a tiptronic from 1994 (the first production year of the FTO)

*Driver orientated cabin

*Large comfy bolsted seats, so it holds you in around corners

*lots of hidden comparments/ cheeky little extras (as most Jap cars do)

*MIVEC engine so it really makes use of every single drop of power

*(fto)2lt 150kw NA Engine in a 1170kg car with a short wheelbase and an option for a semi auto in 1994!!! as opposed to a 3lt 168kw larger car that weighs 1480kg and looks more dated

SUPRA's

*Dislike the crazy cockpit style of the cabin (I never wanted to be a pilot)

*Not a big fan of the dated looking dash/instrument cluster

*Na version is a slug

*dislike the odd bubble shape of the rear window

*It's a true 2+2 with a totally unusable centre seat

I have a link to a Utube video that I think you might like :bunny: (it involves a Toyota Levin GT-Z, Honda Integra Si, Nissan 180SX, Toyota MR2, BMW M3 and a Toyota Supra.

However don't get me wrong, I love the Supra's but for what they are you don't really get value for money or something REALLY unique, I like being different (hence why I own a Jap car and not a Hyundai Getz)

anyway as i said... favorite and im a female im happy with cars that get to 100kmph in under 7.5 seconds, i dont take my car to the track.

The FTO is front wheel drive... Torque steer. D'oh...

fto's are high revving and not ultra tourqey so theres only a little bit between 1st and second

I understand most of this is your opinion, and not fact, but I feel the need to defend the humble NA Supra anyway.

Cowboy- the Supra's really need the turbo to do anything special. Not true. They're never going to be the best at anything, but they have more than enough power to learn how to drive a FR on the track, drift, drag, whatever.

I'll explain my choice:

* Love the stylish curves of the FTO

* Technologically advanced for it's day

* handles like it's on rails - Supra's handle really well too, in fact, stock for stock an RZ Supra will beat an R33 GTR around the track.

*Amazing turning circle

*All auto's were brought out as a tiptronic from 1994 (the first production year of the FTO) - Still auto

*Driver orientated cabin - Dunno why you don't like the Supra if you like this feature. It's arguably THE most driver orientated cabin of any Jap import.

*Large comfy bolsted seats, so it holds you in around corners

*lots of hidden comparments/ cheeky little extras (as most Jap cars do)

*MIVEC engine so it really makes use of every single drop of power - How? You mean the fact you have to wring its neck to get power out of it? Supra has some decent torque down low.

*(fto)2lt 150kw NA Engine in a 1170kg car with a short wheelbase and an option for a semi auto in 1994!!! as opposed to a 3lt 168kw larger car that weighs 1480kg and looks more dated - Again your opinion, but I think most of the world would agree the Supra looks 10x better than the FTO

SUPRA's

*Dislike the crazy cockpit style of the cabin (I never wanted to be a pilot)

*Not a big fan of the dated looking dash/instrument cluster - I'll agree with this

*Na version is a slug - It is significantly quicker than the FTO. My Supra puts out 150rwkw with minimal mods. Which is enough to beat stock GTSTs and Silvias

*dislike the odd bubble shape of the rear window - No idea what you're talking about here, I just looked at a couple of pictures and the FTO and Supra have very similar rear windows.

*It's a true 2+2 with a totally unusable centre seat I'd actually call it a 2+1, I won't let anyone sit behind me.

comparing a stock fto to a stock NA supra the fto would be faster in a drag race and on the track. theres mods for the fto also like the whole intake, extractors and exhaust system and there piggyback computers.

heres a picture of a stock white FTO http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=htt...=1t:429,r:0,s:0

heres a picture of a stock white Supra http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=htt...tx=77&ty=82

is it just me or does the fto look 10 times better?

Uh, that's an FTO with a bodykit, rims and tinted windows. I still think it looks worse though.

I also looked at several sites, here's one:

http://www.importforums.com/carsinfo.htm

NA Supra is more than a second quicker to 100kph and down the 1/4mile than the FTO GPX.

thats a mitsubishi factory bodykit by the way, and yeah it seems going by that site the na supra's are faster in a straight line

Who said anything about a non-turbo Supra? :D

And the GTO is made by a Japanese company in Japan.

Is the GTO Pontiac an Australian car or American car? It's Australian. Designed and built here then exported overseas.

The R32 is Japanese. Made in Japan then exported here.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
