Flutter And Vent?!

Recommended Posts

hey guys, just strapped a new Blitz DD BOV onto my r33 gtst and even when the adjustment screw is on the loosest im still getting flutter at low boost and flutter followed with a vent, just wondering if this ok or if its going to ruin the turbo

If its "New" it shouldnt need oiling. It could be the fact that the spring is alot harder than stock even on soft, so with low boost its just a bit slower to react.

My Greddy Type RS does it too.

sorry, my mistake using the word new, its a used bov, new to me :):P yea thats what i was thinking, its probably really made for 15+psi when im only running .8bar it does vent properly at/close to full boost, just abit worried about any detrimental effects the surge may have (damn it sounds trippy fluttering/venting :()

:D I figured.

Could be the reason then.

I know with my Greddy, i got it brand new, and it only flutters at very low boost and vac. But if i rev it a bit higher, even if still only 2-3psi it opens at per normal. No problems at all at full boost.

I dont mind the flutter. Like you said, sounds trippy haha. And seeing as its only doing it at very low boost im not worried about this "surge" people go on about. I always thought surge was when the compressor actually stalls under full boost. If it was surging you'd be seeing it on the boost gauge anywho wouldnt you?

its funny that it actually holds boost better then the stockie ever did (even when it was working) at higher rpm the boost would be all over the place and the car would feel like it was coking at times, now its just perfect :D

    • Sure, but the result will put so little power to the ground it won't be able to move. Whatever your reason, it will be cheaper and more practical to sell the manual and buy an automatic
    • Hi! Is it possible to use and swap the RB25DET/RB25Neo manual gerbox on to my RB20DE Neo engine with an automatic transmission?

Till then, it is a good breeding home for redbacks and the boot is good for storing my Christmas tree for 11 months of the year.
    • Thanks for jumping in guys, suggested @Sbluatx post here for help. Was hoping one of the guys with a RWD stages could confirm if the tank was the same as the AWD one
    • I got another MAF and installed it. Idle misfire was still present. Finally got the tank low enough to refuel and did so. Did a short drive to warm the car up and no issues, pretty short drive. Going to attempt soon to take a longer drive to see. I don't think the MAF fixed it if anything, definitely thinking it was fuel related. As soon as I put fresh fuel in the car felt so much better. But, still need a longer test drive to verify. I'll report back once done.  I'm definitely going to be getting monitoring and tuning parts soon as my next upgrade (decided on the link after talking with my tuner), just been real tight with just purchasing the car and sudden onset of issues. I've also ordered a new exhaust stud kit and gasket to fix that obvious problem. Once it's back up to par I'll start with the goodies
