Hi guys

im tossing up the idea of importing a 89 r32gts-4 turbo

from japan

would be manual , so for easier modding

then i would drop an RB26 in there, and suit it all up

now the questions i have is , the gts4 is that AWD 4wd? as in is it allways on

and does it have that attessa torque balance?

has anyone done this type of mod before and anyone know the rough price of an Rb26 , or should i simply get a non turbo gts4 and do the conversion?

your thoughts on this would be great?

the attessa same as the GTR.. i think the problem will be getting a good GTS4 b4 the end of the year when the 15 year changes, as everybody else has the same idea as you.

apparently the gts-4 didn't come out until about August (with the GTR), which means its pushing it late in the year to get one through before the changes.

I think you may be better just getting a GTR, or living with modifying the RB20

Does a GTS4 have the same diffs, driveshafts, brakes, radiator, gearbox etc? It can be done...but im big on saving money these days.

As for price for RB26 engine/box/ECU ie front cut minus brakes i think you are looking at around 7k, thats from a yard with a 3 month warranty

Mark, I have a 93 model and I hear the diff has a different ratio to the GTR, the brakes are smaller, the gearbox (according to SDU guys) is the same as GTR.

But yeah as Roy says, lotsa money to do the 26 conversion coz you're gonna need brakes and all the other crap that goes with moving a GTR reliably :)

Plus the fact that if you buy an 89 model you'll be fixing stuff like suspension as well

Plus, 1989 GTS-4's are pretty rare. According to SPEED magazine, the GTS-t and GTS-4 first started production in May. The GT-R was in August.

I myself am tossing up between a R32 GTS-t and a GTS-4 -- leaning towards the GTS-t though. Lighter, and supposedly more nimble around the twisties (except for hairpins and in the wet). Good for some track days with a set of Tein HA coilovers :)

GTR and GTS-t 4 have same gearboxes . The gts-4 has a 4.3 diff ratio and the GTR has 4.11 but they are still the same strenght. I think you would get away with using standard gts-4 brakes with some good pads as the brakes are only marginally bigger on the gtr.

Im in process of putting a rb26 into my 32 gts-t so will see if it can hold power in a straight line or if its just gonna peel lines.

questions questions questions.... i have a 93 GTS-4. the gearbox identical on the outside but its not as strong as the gtr one. i have 4 pot brakes onthe front and 2 pot on the rear. all shafts are the same. the suspension is the same setup but the shocks and springs aren't as good as the gtr. The 4WD system is the same as the gtr. the diff i don't know as i have auto one in there but have recently converted to manual.. :D:) :) basically you can call it a babyzilla!!! lol i have a 4 door gts4 as well so its abit different. body wise.

i also have the thought of dropping in a gtr motor too... mmmmmmmmm power.

but i think i can handle ( for awhile ) with the RB20DET.

all the parts were off a front cut, and they cost me $1200 for everything. clutch, flwheel, console parts, etc and computer on exchange.. including the bolts to. then oil and stuff ontop of that. if you are thinking of doing it either make sure you know how to change a gearbox or get someone to do it. cause its a BIG pain in the arse the first time you do one. and get a 180b input shaft to . it makes things a shit load easier to line the clutch up. the stuff was actually from a guy in perth but my computer crashed and i losed his name and email address. if i get it again i'll give it to you.

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
