Neuroglider
easiest way is to either get a HR license and possibly get in a trainee dumpy position... other than that dude you gotta start low like field technician/assistant, core farm tech, process technician, geotech... there are tafe courses you can do for some of them... but if you know anyone at ALL in a mine find your hook ups man, once you get in it's all good Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/331493-looking-for-a-job-at-the-mines/#findComment-5384541 Share on other sites

turboedsloth
other tickets like Working at HEights, Elevated work platform, Confined space, forklift, dogging, rigging and even scaffolding will make it easier for you to get in. HR is a pre requisite on some sites Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/331493-looking-for-a-job-at-the-mines/#findComment-5386999 Share on other sites
royb31
The more tickets the better then contact places like extraman or skilled, ready work force etc and be persistent a lot of companies wont fly you from over east so be prepared to re locate or pay your own way home also look at oil and gas construction heaps of that stuff going on i used to work in the mines but now work on the rigs try rigzone website, offshore marine services, total marine services, GRN SWG there are heaps just net it up and be persistent. most labor hire places clean thier boout after 3 months so just keep hassling then and they will give u a job just so u will leave them alone good luck Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/331493-looking-for-a-job-at-the-mines/#findComment-5387011 Share on other sites

enndee
What's the deal with IT up in mines? Do they have many FIFO jobs in IT? - intrigued, but not enough to send my CV in... Nick033
I work FIFO in underground mining, the easiest way to get a job that is unskilled ie non tradie/graduate is to start off as a truckie or a nipper and then work your way up the ladder, companies like barminco, byrnecut etc are always in need of truckies or nippers so drop you resume in and see how you go, and yes it is a case of fit in or f**k off Cheers Nick Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/331493-looking-for-a-job-at-the-mines/#findComment-5420253 Share on other sites
hylian
What's the deal with IT up in mines? Do they have many FIFO jobs in IT?- intrigued, but not enough to send my CV in... Epic thread revival time. Didn't want to start a new thread so I thought I'd post here. Working in IT in QLD at the moment and two close friends are moving back to WA and have been trying to get me to go over with them. Wondering if anyone here is a part of the office side of things and knows a bit about the IT structure over there and whats needed to get in. My friends have worked as drillers there beforehand so they figure it will be simple for them to get a job. Any help is appreciated.
