hey guyz.

Just about to get an Alpine Type S Sub for very cheap.

Just wondering if it is good enough for normal bass.

I want something that sounds OK not too loud. I previously had two kickers COMP DVC running at 2ohms and it was too loud and i never even put the volume that loud.

I am looking for some bass but not too much.

I listen to RNB, Trance Rock. whatever. Even Celine dion. jk

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Cheers.

Vish.

Yeah troy i checked out the reviews. But the reviews.

I tested it yesterday on a friends amp and it sounds awesome. Just need my own amp now

It came with a Factory Pioneer Box. its a 2010 model.

Btw does anyone know what AMP will be good for it?

Its 1400watts Max and 400Watts RMS

What amp will suit it best?

Cheers.

make sure your sub box is the same specs as required by the woofer, or they fail easy.

don't under power it either.

lets see, you can get something for 100 bucks or $10,000 that will power it. but shoot for around 600-800 RMS , if you like it loud you can go bigger but beware the sub can fry if the box/port is wrong

check out these pioneer deals, direct from them

Pioneer

any of the mono or two channel models on the bottom will do the trick

4ohm load per voice coil in stereo

or in voice coils wired in parallel is a 2 ohm load to a mono amp, so make sure the amp can handle the loads

or another option but not a perfect one, wire in series, which = 8ohms mono and bridge a two channel amp on the load , the amp will see a 4ohm load in that case(can sound a bit muddy that way)

presuming you got the dual 4ohm coil model not the 2ohm one ? they have both ?

or even both coils wired(4ohm dvc) in parallel on a bridged 2 channel amp, that can handle a 1ohm load in stereo , when bridged it becomes that load

(I run mine off a old 4 channel amp bridged to each sub. a 1ohm load on each coil to the amp. ) 75 watts rms at 4ohms ,,,990 max at just under 1 ohm)

pm me if you get stuck ..lol

Thanx for the reply Troy.

yeah i think i might go with the Pioneer Mono Block Amp. There are some at Motoquipe and the guy gave me a good deal.

Btw the Pioneer Sub Box says 2ohms on the side where the terminals are, what does this mean? Is 2ohms better than 4ohms?

I dont understand Ohms lol.

On the side of the sub box or the side of the box the sub came in? Lol. Sounds like the sub box has terminals to run a DVC sub? 2 ohms is better than 4 ohms in terms of power you can get from the amp , the less resistance the amp "sees" the more power it can make. Ie. a mono block amp might make 200wrms at 4 ohms, but 400wrms at 2 ohms. Google it lol.

oh you got the one in a prebuilt box the part number is unboxed one , and yes its a Dual voice coil sub wired in parallel inside, if you use a stereo amp it has to be 1 ohm stable it won't play the sub bridged and survive,

you must use a mono amp that can take a 2 ohm load , something like a digital mono block

do some shopping around you can find better prices

so no cheap amps..lol

I got a nearly new Pioneer GM7200M Mono Amp from a guy.

My sub is 400Watts RMS and the AMP is 360Watts RMS... DO you think this is a good combination?

It sounds awesome. Very clean bass.

should be fine, just setup the amp gains properly, and fuse at the battery

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
