Need help! I was driving and the car shut off. All lights are on and crank and cams are moving. I have changed the crank sensor and ignition amp. I can not hear the fuel pump run but it is getting fuel. I have ohm check the coil packs and are good. I have not check the ecu code yet. Can anyone help? Thanks, Trev

same goes for mine, i got told it could b the crank angle sensor or the igniter module,

Can an Auto Electrician, diagnose what it is for me?

Buying a CAS and/or igniter seems a little bit pricey if it turns out i dont need them!

Cheers

Was not the CAS of igniter. I tryed coilpacks, coilpack harness, AFM, all the ign relay, shot wires, and fuel pump because, I can not hear it prime the system. I have checked the vac. lines and fuses. Going have it towed to garage that a friend toke his GTS-4 too.

I had a cann car to get parts from to troubleshot mine.

lots of stuff changed huh, easier way to check if it was getter fuel would have been disconnect the fuel line goin into the rail and ignition on or crank whichever it needs to get the fuel to come out, SOME systems dont actually prime up on ignition on and require the car to be cranked to get the fuel feed up. Checking coil packs was a little bit of a waste of time cos it will still run if one drops out, just like a dog. But see how u go at the mechanics. Update when u know champ

I will keep all up to date on what I or the garage finds out.

On another note, the car is getting fuel. Tryed the popping the line of and filled the can quickly. My friend and I found there was 2 volts coming out of the igniter amp (the one on the coilpack cover). I am going (I hope!) another igniter amp today. I do not like giving up. Thanks for support! Trev

The car will start with no AFM attached, so it's not necessary to check at all.

How can you be sure it's getting fuel if you can't hear the fuel pump? When you switch the car to "ON" without starting, you should hear the pump prime. If there is nothing, then the pump isn't pumping. You will have fuel in the lines already even with no fuel pressure, so d/c the line and seeing fuel is no way to tell. Get a friend to stick his head in the boot when you switch the car on, he should definitely hear it prime from there. Even the quietest pump will be audible from there (turn your damned stereo off! :D)

You've said there is no spark, well that's definitely one cause of it not starting whether or not the fuel pump is working. If it's not the igniter or CAS, then it could be the ECU not telling the igniter to fire. Try checking all wiring connections and maybe swapping ECU's with a known working one.

You may be getting fuel to the other end but if you don't hear it prime the system then the system won't be pressurised.

Maybe the fuel pump dies as soon as it gets a little bit of load on it.

I can hear my 32 pump prime almost every time I flick the key. Wait a minute or so between priming otherwise the pressure will be there and it wont prime because it doesn't have to.

The gas tank is not getting pressured (taking off the gas cap).

So whats this mean?

Had the auto elec around today on mine but no luck didnt find out what it was, gonna hunt down a CAS & Igniter module.

Trev do u have any interceptors/piggyback comps. hooked up 2 ur computer?

I have an SAFC & ITC these couldnt b causing the problem?

My gas cap for my gas tank is not vented. It helps the pump run with less stress. My tank is not get pressured. I do not know if, the pump is crapped out, the car will not start as a safety reason not to run the car too lean and kill the engine. :Bang:

Fuel is coming of the fuel line but, no audio from the fuel pump. I have alway been able to hear it and get the 5-second prime. My fuel mileage was very good before it stopped running. I had to fill-up once a week. It is quiter than my gt-r pump I had it there. :hellpisd: :cuss:

    • If you want to do the wiring, the GTT engine ecu has the same pinouts extra that the seperate TCM in the NA car has. You can literally grab the wires/pins that lead into the Seperate TCM and wire them into the corresponding pins in the GTT Engine ECU. You could then in theory Nistune it. I realised this when everyone put it in the too hard basket and I actually looked at the f**kin R34 manual. This is after I had previously had a seperate aftermarket TCM controller in my original N/A chassis car and a very built gearbox from a GTT, running a seperate Haltech engine ECU. I ran into this issue when I re-shelled the car into a GTT shell, so my aftermarket TCM was no longer plug and play, because the loom/modules were not present. I was pretty livid when realizing just how simple the original fix actually was. It sat for 3+ years at various workshops trying to find a solution. In practice none of this is a worthwhile idea for a lot of reasons, generally surrounding the shitness of the NA auto, the autos in general that come with skylines, and the NA engine and lack of gains. The gearbox is specced for the 2.5L N/A and barely at that level. If you have to pay anyone any money to do any of this, that is money spent on manualizing the car and it's not even close in terms of a comparison. Learning to drive manual is simpler than going through the pain of dealing with the N/A gearbox and he'll have fun to boot.
    • Semi-correction to my blanket statement that you can't bend rubber hoses. It seems that you can get most of a result, by doing as this guy does. I wouldn't promise that the bends will stay in the hose forever. I think if I found they wouldn't stay, I'd get a larger hose and cut some 90°s out to go over the bends I wanted to be in the smaller hose, as a reinforcement.
    • Just a heads up. Mine has just failed. When i turn the car on it just reboots everytime then the word "Android" shows up then goes to a black screen. I've aksed the company i got it from for some help but it's passed their 90 day return so they wont help. I have to swap back to my old system this weekend 😭
    • Does the car have to stay auto? If so, you might be looking at a ZF swap in future.
