Hey guys,

There's an awful lot of good threads on which clutch is the best for your million hp gtr, or which will last longest, but I haven't found anything on what's a good, cheap replacement for the standard clutch.

I have had a bit of time off work for my final year project so the dollars are tight, and my clutch is slipping . I've read all about jim berry's clutches and it sounds like the way to go (even if the gearbox and diff shattering reputation is a little scary).

I have an r34 gtt with a cat back and 13psi boost (lowing that is another project). So are there any cheap after market clutches which are like stock and worth looking at? Exedy, for example, want almost $1000 for a stock replacement *dies*

Thanks all, appreciate it.

Call NPC, there pretty helpful. Ive got a sprung button clutch from them but they will do more practical clutches and resonably priced.

why did nissan decide to change the type of clutch in the r34?

I've been looking around but to be honest I don't know many clutch brands, only been looking at giken, exedy and xtreme, still looking around, but the exedy prices are huge!

Take the clutch out, take it down to your local brake and clutch specialist along with the flywheel.

Ask for a reco/skim on the pressure plate and flywheel, new friction plate (organic/cushioned ceramic/button/whatever), new thrust bearing.

Shouldn't cost more than 300 bucks if nothing is broken.

edit: If you really want to be tight just get a new friction plate and thrust bearing and throw them in. Probably less than 150

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
