GTScotT
Take it to a turbo specialist. The CHRA is the exact same one as a Garrett 3076R, so parts will be off the shelf for it. GTScotT
Honestly not sure, if you cant find anyone local try calling GCG in Sydney and see if you can ship it up (would cost like 20 bucks each way). They are one of the bigger places. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/332880-hks-3037/#findComment-5398263 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
Ye GCG are your best bet, they have the best gear & are a Garrett stockist. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/332880-hks-3037/#findComment-5398359 Share on other sites
lachlanw
have you checked your oil drain and engin breathers . make sure oils not backing up in the turbo Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/332880-hks-3037/#findComment-5398372 Share on other sites
The Dan
MTQ Engine systems are the largest GT dealer in the country. Try them also As for your problem, I would say very characteristic of valve stem seals in the cylinder head. hypergear
Pull it out, strip its housings and check the conditions of its wheels. Turbo is suitable for rebuild only if your wheels are in ok condition with out too much of shaft play. Unfortunately most BB turbos would require a new CHRA for overhaul. discopotato03
Yes the HKS GT3037 Pro S turbos use the same cartridge as Garretts GT3076R turbo . The cartridge number is 700177-5007 so you can shop around for the best price on one of them . Anyone who can remove the compressor jamb nut and the oil inlet ferrule (without bending anything) should be able to strip the cartridge and assess it for you . The advantage of a ball bearing center section is that aside from the turbine end piston ring type exhaust gas seal nothing actually rubs against the bearing housing so unless its had some mechanical failing or the wheels are damaged it may be reusable . It really depends on what the turbo shop has in the way of spare parts . A . Simon-S14
MTQ ftw... they rebuilt my 3076 when it failed for a great price and even chucked in some extra's for free without even me asking. very happy with their service Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/332880-hks-3037/#findComment-5399821 Share on other sites
R31 POWER
Like the guys said, depends where you take it. Since i live in Perth i got Grant from http://www.per4manz.com/ to rebuild my HKS GT2835 PRO S. The rear bearing race had collapsed resulting in the wheels JUST touching the comp housing. He repacked the cartridge/ balanced at a fraction the cost of a new core. Still going strong.
