yeah I haven't had a chance to call yet either Harry, but will do so regarding standard/production/street cars.

will try and remember to ask about restrictors in IPRA too, otherwise my production car will end up in sports sedans which is rubbish.

Interesting find there stu.....they really should be following those since they are specific to this and only this event.

im keen but also confused as hell by all these crazy cams rules.

so freakin complicated and the sheer amount of paperwork needed is stupid.

is there a cams office in brisbane? where you can go to sort all this out or do i need to send smoke signals to warwick via snail mail and cheques

its starting to look easier/cheaper/less hassle to go AASA topgear racing/irace at this point...

Come on Cal, As good as Lakeside is, I want a bit more variety. I'm thinking of doing the Sprint Series at Morgan Park next year - its cheap and great fun. @day events using different track layouts for each round. Standing start Supersprints against other cars - like a mini head-to-head race. :P I might do a dirt sprint at Ipswich and a motorkhana here and there as well. Plus there's sprints at Stanthorpe which is a fun little track. And heaps of other stuff. Superlap is a CAMS event too btw :P :P

The CAMS club membership and licence are both just annual things, but it is a PITA to have to get a passport photo the first time you get the licence I guess.

SAU QLD are CAMS affiliated - join SAU here:http://www.sauqld.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=1648. They're also not exactly expensive. They run some other events as well - skidpans, drags and stuff.

Then the easiest way to get the CAMS licence is download the form and pay by credit card L2S licence application

Keep the tear-off 30day licence at the end of the form and get the SAU guys to sign it. You can use this if your proper licence doesn't arrive in time. Or pay in person at CAMS State Office at Sports House Milton and they will complete that for you on the spot.

Your entry for the event still needs to be sent via smoke signal to the organising club at Warwick - most clubs have credit card facilities for entry, but WDSCC don't. So its either cheque or money order. You could get a bank cheque from your bank or money order from the post office.

And QLD registered vehicles also need a CTP Insurane extension to cover them for the event. Its just a letter from your CTP insurer saying they're aware the vehicle is being used in competition, and lists the dates and event name. Depending on the Insurer they can be free or $10ea. Suncorp and NRMA i know are free. Some Insurers you can just call and they will mail/fax it out to you, others you have to go to a branch and get it in person.

OK you're right - it IS alot of paperwork and a PITA! lol

My entry is in the mail now though

im really wondering what the relevance of BEING IN A CLUB is all about though, just an extra moneygrab?

why cant i start/be my own club?

oh and my mates have booked out the willowbank dirt track for nov.7th if youre keen?

strange attitude considering a club is about like minded people working together on a common interest. Without clubs, who do you think would run events for you?

anyway...CAMS is a confederation of clubs, so if you want a CAMS license you must be a current member of one of their clubs.

I'm sure you can start your own club for difficult people who like cars. Cost runs to the thousands for incorporation, annual returns, memberships, audits etc.

seems crazy from where im standing..

so howcome its costing 100 for the license, 220 for the trackday... then MORE for some irrelevant CLUB?

iv got friends who are like minded people and it hasnt cost me any money so far

surely the license itself could include me in the cams club?

alright if youv got lots of money to burn but not everyone does mate :]

It's just one of those things Cal.

I'm with BSCC (Brisbane Sporting Car Club), have been for eons. Cost is $90- per year from memory.

They hold monthly meetings, have guest speakers, you get discounts from being a member at various retailers.... it's worth it, even if you're not an active member, which I'm not as they are gravel biased.

They run dozens of events during the year, many of which I know you'd be interested in.

And as Dunc says, CAMS is a confederation, ie, people make the clubs, the clubs make the confederation.

I'm goign to Lakeside on the 7th to try out a few changes!

Without the Car Clubs, we wouldn't have Morgan Park, the Autocross track you're going to, Mt Cotton Hillclimb, Carnell Raceway... Its the local car clubs that built them. We also wouldn't have anyone running autocrosses, motorkhanas, hillclimbs, and even state level race meetings!

WDSCC (Warwick District Sporting Car Club) built this racetrack themselves. Bill the man to thank for the place even existing. It started off as a short circuit dirt track, and has continually expanded and grown thanks to the hard work of Bill and locals out there.

mm alrighty, puts things into perspective, im just a povarse

i guess i really like the way the AASA works. pay x amount, no bullshit, drive

sweet harry! take some points off the competition for me ! :] want a lend of my tyres for half the day?

thanks for the offer mate, but tyres are one of the changes I've got lined up to try out that day :P

I've seen enough to know those FZ201's work!!!

What's happening there? Are you running an event, or just a play day? Are FWD shopping trollies allowed?

By the way, NDSCC (gravel rally club) membership is $30 a year. If you can't afford that, I'm surprised you can afford to put petrol in your tank :P

    • sold listed as a Tomei LSD 1.5 Way For 1998+ Nissan Skyline ER34 25GT RB25DE w/Open R200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/174006114594?campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms=&campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=71883f2ccc571356e0a757bc7adfdde2&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms= it went in like butter all gears, alignment, back lash etc, rotation and clearances correct, and if rolling all rotates smooth and free when coasting down road , clutch in or out over 10 mph smooth... its the binding, clunking and jerking from a stop that is most concerning, also seems like its going to tear the tires off in 10 miles of normal road driving.
    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
