l have dash 5 on my setup and personally l do not think it will give you that rush you are after. If want that big shove in the back feeling go for a big single. If l had to do it all over again thats what l would do.

I cannot see how 380-400rwkw of -5s wouldn't give you that feeling?

Having been in a few -5 cars, and hopefully taking one for a drive soon just to compare that to -9s, they certainly pin you to the seat when setup properly running 20-22psi/380rwkw or so with a solid tune.

But then each to their own as you said.

yeh big single for the kick in the pants feeling... went in a 33GTR with a T88... was only putting out 360kw but the way it delivered boost was completely different

lag lag lag... then WHAM... big rush of power

lol 360rwkw outta a T88?

-9 equipped car with less power would most likely still be faster :)

If you just want a "rush" drive the car and hold throttle @ 4000rpm and then plent the foot. Same as a laggy turbo :D

Nismoid, my car is making a "claimed" 380RWKW on 25 psi of boost and was built and tuned by the same guys that have done your car. Comparing it to other GTR's running big singles such as a TO4z which is what l wanted to do in the first place but talked out of, stating that a twin setup using these lady -5's will be quicker. From my experience when both cars on a rolling start and in there boost range the big single always wins and feeling you get as you are thrown back in the seat is much more intence. The only benefit l see using my setup is the stock appearance and it may have a little more bottom end, which at the end of day l would rather have something with more top end and doesnt tapper off like my lady setup.

well T04Z cars would be making another 50-60rwkw given they usually run over 400 with ease.

Having been in various cars, im pinned to the seat with -5s.

obviously a bit more lag and another 50rwkw or so is going to feel different.

If the big single is better as you say, then the -5 equipped cars wouldnt be doing the faster lap times compared to the guys with the big singles from other workshops close by :)

yeh the car just got off the boat with that setup and was given a quick tune to see what it could do... D Jetro AFMs were maxing out or sumthing so it was being held back..

still the sensation a big turbo coming on song is very different to twins...

every day driving the twins for sure but from my exp a big single is needed for that the big rush put you back in the seat feeling

Apparently you've never compared the torque and power curves for a car, where often torque will start decreasing near the top end, while power continues to increase.

I know what your getting at, the comment he made was misleading.

HP = Torque x RPM ÷ 5252

So torque and power are proportional. More power means more torque at the same rpm. Given that we are talking about the same engines we can disregard the rpm part of the equation.

I have heard a few people say that the single turbos hit harder than the twins. Are you sure the twin turbos compare exactly in size to the single? I mean air is air? Do they both have even quality of exhaust manifolds etc.

Would -10s compare more to a T04Z instead of your -5s?

yer i got 300kw and its boring as, but ive been in other 300kw cars and its wow stuffs me wot the go is.

Hmmm just had a quick think about this. What other cars are you comparing it to? Do they use less revs?

If they use less revs then, they are actually producing more torque to make the same power. The higher torque figure could be what makes them feel more 'wow'.

Torque = 5252 * HP / RPM

Concidence with car setup, driver etc? I am pretty sure Superlap was dominated by guys with singles on even smaller motors :( The quickest NZ track GTR I am aware of runs a T04Z. The odds are a quickest track GTR would be running twins because the majority run twins anyway...

    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
