Looking at getting a Stagea which has a Dolphin Aeroform kit and would like to compare ride heights with others as this one seems quite low. Ride heights are - Front and Rear 355mm from wheel centre to top of wheel arch. Would be interested in hearing what other people have and if they have found any problems with their heights. My main concern is I hit the gravel often as a spectator for local Rally events.

Cheers

yer, they really are a low kit, i considered one and in the end decided against it. i have persisted with driving super low cars for the past 6-7 years - my last two cars having around 60mm at the cat - and it just makes the car so impractical. it was fine when i was younger, at uni, and drove a lot less frequently and often had a lot more spare time to get places, but driving daily and often in a hurry, it was just a PITA in the end.

and with the dolphin kit, they're so blunt, that if you do manage to catch a corner coming out a drive way i'd say you'd do some damage. and i see you're in adelaide - aren't they infamous for kit wrecking spoon drains??

i also reckon its hard to get the dolphin kit looking its best without a low ride height, which is a bit of a catch 22 if you want to maintain practicality - which for your dirt road stuff is obviously an issue. maybe look for a stock one, or one with a dayz kit which are a fair bit less aggressive.

which car are you looking at? is it iron chef's car?

Those ride heights are not low. Mine is at 340/350 and doesn't look particularly low -but i have no body kit at all. From a legal point of view body kits don't count but from a practical point of view if you are going damage it all the time on driveways or parking buildings etc then its probably not the right one.

ah yep, cool.

i considered that car myself. there are a few references to it in this thread.

i have the auction grade sheet for it if you want, pm me your email and i'll send it to you. the auction sheet shows it as being in very good condition with only minor cosmetic scratches - however, someone who inspected the car in adelaide posted in my thread said that in real life this is not the case. in the end i decided that it wasn't worth paying the premium price for the colour alone as the car is fairly stock standard otherwise, and i wasn't convinced on the kit due to how much i'd have to lower the car to get it looking right - maybe its just the rims but it looks a bit strange to me at that height with such a deep kit. also, fact i was in melbourne and would have had to buy the car sight unseen was a risk i wasn't willing to take. then there was all this time pressure being put on me about someone else having made an offer to pay in installments so i'd need to make a quick decision etc etc, and in the end i just decided to leave it alone.

but dont let any of that stop you! if you're in adelaide go check it out and you can decide for yourself. just connecting some dots for you ;-)

says the man with the busted front bar :( hahah, just stirring.

yeh any car is driveable at any height if you're prepared to be ultra careful and make sacrifices bout where you drive and how fast.

my ls400 used to smash upper control arms on a daily basis and level speed humps with the exhaust - it looked tough as balls, but you get over it quickly....

i got same kit, and im on stock height, and its bad enough as is, driveways in this country were designed for the 4wd's.

ive got a heap of chips and cracks all throughout my bumper. cost me 400 bucks for a fix and paint. so if you do get one, be prepared to pay n fix it.

but its a damn sexy kit for sure.

OK, so I have bought the Stag, and yes I think the clearance at the front bar will be bearable for normal driving, but I would be confident with more clearance. Measured up the height of the bar and it is 420mm from base to fender, as shown in the pic. What I am wondering is what the height of a DAYZ bar would be?

Anyone keen to measure for me?

there is already a thread started on this if you search this section

can't remember the username but i know that it had measurements for exactly what you are after

be prepared to pay a bit of money for a dayz bar too :D

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
