Crap night, ran badly, at home and in bed by 8:30... The weather turned nasty and sprayed on us. It was sooooo packed too. Two dudes with 32 R's ran low 11's. BTW, thanks to the dude with 32 GTS that let me sneak in - if you're on here!

yea sore the weather report and decided to save it for a night where their wouldn't be so many teenie boppers around (hsc time ftw!!)

I was there and spoke to you GDZ14R. Nice 34 you have. I didnt get to speak with you after my 3rd run. I ran a 11.2 @ 130 mph. Very happy with my mph but just couldnt get the 60'ft where i wanted it. Shame the weather came in as my times were getting faster each run.

Who owns that black 32 gtr that was running ?

Tim.

Hey Tim. I just put 2 n 2 together, you sold your old bottom-end to my mate Dave, who is the dude i was telling you bout stuck on 11's. I found the ad you posted and let him know after he cooked his old stocker.

Thanks mate, great job with the colour on yours too! 130 is really moving, only a matter of time before you crack the magic mark. Don't know the bloke with the black one, just managed a peak under the bonnet.

The weather put my night out of its misery.. Let me know when you have another crack, i'll come down with Dave.

  • 2 months later...

So did anyone go? I saw a few Skylines but no one I recognised.

Bit disappointed with times but it was epically hot! Managed to get an 11.9 once the sun went down and the temps dropped a bit. All good though, the white beast lives to fight another day :)

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
