i just dont get how u think u have 264 fwhp when ur car is a 3l, non turbo, and u told me mods were a twin throttle kit, and cams. u said once u open these babys up, there is shitloads of power to gain. Yet again i disagree cos ive been thru the whole modifying nas before and i tell u cams exhaust twin trottle kits do basically shit all. maybe 10-20% max.

Finally, when there is another magna that is turboed, shitload more mods then ur car, and only has 125fkws, ie 167whp, it is just too hard too believe that ur car makes the power u claim.

Basically what im gettin at is that i have nothin against ur car, its just i hate it when people bs. If u remember, and u prolly dont, the first thing i said to u when i came up to u at nats was, man ur car sounds ****en loud. Then u went on about dynos and hp figures. I then left thinkin what a load of crap. If u just told me the truth, then i would of thought, hey its good to b different to everyone else.

Do u get what i mean? not having a stab at u, its just that a car with as much power as u claim does not get bad ets or even low ts like u do. Either u have been lied to or u are bsing us.

if you want to know the full extent of the mods then here i go. NO BS for f--k sake.

Cams - degreed,

extensive ported polished intake manifold

extensive ported polished heads with redesigned combustion chambers

custom twin throttle body

haltech e6k ECU

custom designed extractors

fuel (for this hp figure + 4,6 rotary day) ELF LMS 2:1 - 2parts lms to 1 part premium

3" exhaust (altho 4,6 rotary was running with dump pipe)

Compression upped to 13.1:1 with high compression pistions

dudes, i didnt come to this forum to sturr the pot. and if i did, i wouldnt be defending myself. jezzus. common. dude, EnricoPalazzo, i see where your comming from, and if you dont believe me, well, there is nothing i can do to change that, perhaps and YES i would be more then happy to participate, to prove my innocence, next time im down in adelaide, perhaps set up a small dyno day, with you and a few of the other people who think im talkin out my ass. you pick the dyno, you dont even have to tell me where, ill just follow you from a pre meet spot, and then all you will see is raw figures. no BS. no talk. just figures. and yes, altho un-nessary to 'prove' i have no problem facing people if it means i can earn my creditablilty by proof that any of you cant deny.

ill uphold my challenge to a blind dyno date. if you see me in adel one day, pull me up and we can go from there.

bottom line, oviously there is nothing i can say/show to make you guys think otherwise, but im not BSing.

im sure there is a few variables that killed my times

a) air temp, still in the 40's (36 or something on my quickest attempt)

B) running on 28kg-a piece 19" rims all round.. i know silly..

c) lack of traction (and cant be deny'd it did wheelspin outta control!) on low profile 19" tyres. if i could of sourced 2x 15s and put 12psi in em then im sure it would of been a lot better results.

d) driver in-experience - my first time ever doing such an event.. this also has a lot to do id say, and at least i can say this honestly.

well i think ur mistake was that u ran the car off the dump, as nas really need backpressure.

I still dont think u can be makin that much power, even thou the mods are extensive. So maybe someone is bodging dyno figures. I mean still u only cracked a 90 something mph ts. This is a true indication of ur cars real power, and i know that it was farkin hot as, but still running the elf would have helped the car dramatically.

Here's some figures to use as a rough guide...

My car had a best MPH of 114.9 during the Nat's (17-18psi boost and 44'c air temp) My best MPH from the other night was 117.75 (17'c)

However I was also leaking less boost on the 117.75 run (yes still have BOV issues - new BOV coming) and I was also running 21-22psi. The extra boost alone would have made the difference. Temp certainly plays a factor in engine performance, but not THAT much.

I also ran dead on identical 12.84 best ET's on both meets!

So if the Magna really had 196kw at the front wheels then the MPH should be MUCH higher, regardless of how hot, or how poor the traction. Even with woeful 60's (2.5-2.8) and with hp down due to temp, the power/weight ratio of this Magna should still be good for 100+mph

Ok... lets forget it now. Maybe its true, maybe BS or maybe someone played with the 'X' Factor on your dyno run. Having said this 15.094 @ 91.94mph even on a hot day would maybe equal to a 14.8/14.7 at the best if you are lucky. Probably even with all the best setup and dragging technique.

Sorry ben, but you have to be realistic, a FLAT 14 or high 13 is a loooooooooooong way from 15. Especially for a non turbo. But anyway, good luck.

ok, we'll leave it. its going no where.

also perhaps consider a power to weight ratio. the magna comes in at a lean 1570kg + driver, so its around 1610ish or so. what would a line' weight.. 1200ish i think is what my s14 was + driver. so again, a good 300kg advantage at the very least.

compairing the ET's from the time slip thing at the top of the page, a 91mph is around the low 14's for your lines' its definately off the line where FWD and not decent drag tyres fail me.

ok, so perhaps someone has played the 'x' factor game on me, thats not ME to blame. i can only relay what ive been told. so if you think its unrealistic, and now that i think, achieavble not but driveable, perhaps the end figure is slightly lower, but im more then confident of 220+hp over. yes elf does play a big part but we all try to show what the most we can. in this instance i got a reading of 260so hp. so ill use it.

im glad most of you matured during the latter posts, but like i said before, why im here is cos of my late s14 that died :) and i enjoy a passion for all vehicles not just a car in particular.

perhaps ill watch the SA thread for a DYNO day, and pay a quick holiday (anything to get me out of the NT ;)) down there just so THEN i know i can get a equal chance at the dyno.

Thank you all very much

Ben.

Do you have a dyno print out or anything to confirm this (no dodgy excel spreadsheets please ;)) Just curious to see thats all, becasue my R32 has 200rwkw (268 rwhp) and run consitantly at around 104mph when i had a go at the drags, and as whatisname pointed out, even if you run really crap 60ft times (mine were 2.4-2.5 seconds) you will still run a good top speed - if you have the power

I would suspect that a 3L Magna, even though they weigh a little more, with its increased displacemnt and probably a heap for torque than a my 2L 8.5-1 comp RB20, can only manange 90odd mph for its top speed??

Just curious, not having a go or anything

I did see your car at the event though, sounded pretty crazy, just lacked the pace to go along with the sound :)

Sounds good.

Also r33 weigh in at a hefty 1400 approx.

Gotta remember, the huge wing and the wheels etc give it another 100 or so HP at the wheels ;) add another 50 or so for the stickers etc, it all adds up!!

260~hp at the wheels, even in a Magna, you would think the top speed would be around 100-102mph

As Chris32 says are there any dyno sheets?

hmmm now I'm confused .... how is it then that an S15 like mine of 1,240kg plus me 90kg = 1,330kg with 200rwkw, easily and consistently beats R33s of significantly more power? Even when I only had 158rwkw I used to kick the snot out of Diggity's R33 with 160rwkw and my brother-in-laws R33 of 155rwkw - like it was no competition .... this webpage says the R33 gtr is 1,750, which I think is correct http://www.j-garage.com/2110.htm .... but now after looking around it does seem the stock R33 is only 1,390kg .... I wonder why they're so slow? :) All this time I was putting it down to extra weight lol - j/k guys ....

comon andrew, only 90kg???? I do think the suspension may have something to do with it, and the weight distribution, gearing (taller diff), or maybe you are just an awesome driver? an extra 100kg will make a noticeable difference, see if you can find someone who weighs an extra 100+kg and go for a run, just make sure they are in the front, not in the boot helping with traction:p

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
