I was going to slap you too, but decided that you were pretty freaked out after Matt slapped you and didn't want two slaps in a row. Your missus looked horrified as well lol..

Haha yeah, after you guys left she's like "....who was that and why did they slap you".

My face hurt, another slap wouldn't have been cool :D And I wasn't going to give you the opportunity to use my eyes as a flash tester

haha, what can i say, I wanted to leave an impression... OOOOO I'm full of james bond lines this morning.

i don't know, it wasn't planned, it just happened, if I just walked up and said 'hi' that woulda sucked. :D

p.s. that first shot rocks Mr Titan. very tough looking.

inspector, the man's face has a slap mark, but no indentation to show how hard he was hit!

i guess you could say he was *sunglasses on* unimpressed?

YEAHHHHHHHHHH

Your "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!?!" was classic. It reminded me of a year 7 kid or something being on the verge of tears after getting hung from the flag pole copping a massive wedgie.

We took some shots of your car downstairs and were idiots with it. IT was fun.

We also tested our flashes on each others eyes numerous times resulting in the proven winnah!!! Canon 580EXII poo's all over old school manual flashes! Haha.

P.s. Karuso impressions are full of win over bond!

Hahah, I just had no idea where it came from and was disoriented, like whaaaaat? Trying to sort through my head, "ok now who are these people?"

Wait, what? "were idiots with it"... is there something i should know about the outside of my car now? :D

I wish I'd gotten to the morning meetup earlier... I blame the missus for not getting up when we agreed on (half hr later I'm still kicking her out of bed)

is that first shot my car? focus is what>?

The 580 seems to put out a bit mre light, the real winningness in it is not having to wait 50seconds for a refresh at full power though. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The slap was funny, it's all good, you owe me one now :D

Attempted focus was the wheel arch, but I suck pretty bad. And yeah it is your car...

Are you obsessed shooting wide open now Owen lol. Stop down a bit to something like 2.2 or 2.8 to get the best sharpness if you want creamy bokeh stylez. Otherwise stop down to f/4 f/5.6 to get the best sharpness out of the lens.

Looking good.

Oh and yes... We pee'd all over your door handles................................................ :D

Nah, Matt will post the photo up sometime soon and you'll see what i mean.

And lolz0rz at 50sec recycle. 3 seconds on the 580 FTW.

Not obsessed, just wanted to get a few really open shots  I took a few back around 3 or so and they didn't turn out, more because of my other settings than anything else (EDIT:: or maybe I'm just shit).

Eeeeewwww *looks at hands in disgust*

nothing suss!

it's very artistc :D If i shoot that open i find i NEED to manual focus, otherwise it will just focus on something else most of the time. you need to be precise that open. like your mum.

hahahhahaha :D

yeah, i was only doing auto focus towards the end of the day when I was pointing the camera out the window. Was doing manual focus with the 50mm, but either i can't distinguish the fine difference with focus levels yet, or something else. It looked good when I was taking the photo through the viewfinder but came out balls.

Got a few pics at Barbagallo today at the Drift Battle day... before the rain came pissing down.

Some nice shots dude! Were standing at the end of Cat Corner?

I was going to bring the camera down, but decided to leave it at home and drink beer at McCracken House instead :(

So, I know this is moving picture but I'm pretty proud of my improving skills. Next time I should have taken the time to get out the tripod and shot the footage the right way. I have to learn to slow down and get fewer good clips rather than trying to get coverage all over.

Next things to work on - tripod work and a dolly for slow panning shots.

    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves, they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.
    • The roof is wrapped
    • This is how I last did this when I had a master cylinder fail and introduce air. Bleed before first stage, go oh shit through first stage, bleed at end of first stage, go oh shit through second stage, bleed at end of second stage, go oh shit through third stage, bleed at end of third stage, go oh shit through fourth stage, bleed at lunch, go oh shit through fifth stage, bleed at end of fifth stage, go oh shit through sixth stage....you get the idea. It did come good in the end. My Topdon scan tool can bleed the HY51 and V37, but it doesn't have a consult connector and I don't have an R34 to check that on. I think finding a tool in an Australian workshop other than Nissan that can bleed an R34 will be like rocking horse poo. No way will a generic ODB tool do it.
    • Hmm. Perhaps not the same engineers. The OE Nissan engineers did not forsee a future with spacers pushing the tie rod force application further away from the steering arm and creating that torque. The failures are happening since the advent of those things, and some 30 years after they designed the uprights. So latent casting deficiencies, 30+ yrs of wear and tear, + unexpected usage could quite easily = unforeseen failure. Meanwhile, the engineers who are designing the billet CNC or fabricated uprights are also designing, for the same parts makers, the correction tie rod ends. And they are designing and building these with motorsport (or, at the very least, the meth addled antics of drifters) in mind. So I would hope (in fact, I would expect) that their design work included the offset of that steering force. Doesn't mean that it is not totally valid to ask the question of them, before committing $$.
