had my r34 gtr v spec tuned today at maz fix in brisbane...

final power was 408.3rwhp or 304.5rwks at 1.3 bar boost....pretty happy....

we worked out about 100rwhp gain or 75rwkw gain...with tuning...

going to run it to see if it can do an 11 sec pass. best with base power fc map was 12.5 at 110mph...at 1 bar boost .

i plan to run higher boost when i get some good fuel and a twin plate clutch...

mods are: hks 2530's with hks dumps

hks type r intercooler

nismo 280lt fuel pump & reg

700cc sard inj

power fc with z32 afms and pod filters.

denso iq22 plugs.

lightened flywheel and upgraded single plate.

cees short shift.

not good enough mark...you need a nismo twin clutch :D ...did you end up getting it working on the 34 power fc?

yes got the power fc working was the immobilizer as we thought...

got the parts from dwane... thanks for that...

still got your nismo twin plate....

cheers..

Hi Mark, good effort, as I said for a combo road/track car 2530's rule. I noticed the DD was not in Shoot Out mode. How hot was yesterday up there? It was 37 degrees here, that's almost a 10% horsepower loss.

Hi mesh, don't underestimate the benefits of upgrading the dumps. Based on our experience 300 rwkw is a good rule of thumb limit for the std R34 GTR intercooler, an R32 intercooler is not quite as good. So I'd save up a little more and do it properly.

Hi Micko, I suspect that not holding boost could be related to the std intercooler, there is around 5 to 6 psi of restriction in the std inlet system at 45 lbs per minute of airflow. The I/C is about 3 to 4 psi of that. I believe it's time for an intercooler upgrade. Just removing the restriction will give you another 20 or so rwkw, plus you will have the increased efficiency (lower air temps) from the turbos. I wouldn't anticipate too much gain from more cooling in the I/C, the std one is hard to beat in that area.

Hope that adds to this interesting thread.

Great work mark - very nice curve. Can't wait until I can get myself some of these turbo's.

Just as a side point, how have you found the C's shifter? I was just about to order one of these in the next few weeks (if negun answer their emails!) but I haven't known anyone who has used them over the nismo one on a R34.

took it for a spin late last night.. wow...

dont know if the gearbox will like that much power... what are the 6speed getrag boxes power limits...????

had the boost set to 16psi and only had about 10 to 15 on the knock readings in the power fc...seems like a great tune to me... no flat spots or surging at cruise either...

i would highly recommend Maz Fix at underwood in brisbane.. they are starting to do a few more skylines mainly with Micro tech ecu but his power fc tunes are pretty good also...

they tune the brisbane streetmachines gtr with a power fc also and it runs 10s all day....

thats good result for dwanes car also.. what boost did he run to get 305rwks....???

hows your beast going ylwgtr2...

my next step will be some cams maybe 264 9.1mm hks or tommi cams...

snowman the cees shifter is great, i believe it is 30% shorter shift where as the nismo one is only 15 % shorter..

if you can find a cees shifter grab it as they dont make shifters any more.. went bust...

think mine was 500bucks landed....

nengun is a bit slow at present he must be busy... but he will answer its usually worth the wait.....

Nice work Mark - gotta love those turbs eh?

I managed 415rwhp but could not hold boost very well. Still using stock cooler & afms but otherwise same mods.

What are you using for boost control? Got powerfc boost control but thing wont work for me...

i am using a blitz id 111 boost controller.. its very fast acting and hlods boost at 16 psi so far easy.....

it was 32 to 34 deg in brisbane yesterday and he started tuning at about 10am ..

so i would imagine it was quite hot when the final run was done... hot day, hot engine... etc etc..

last night was good at 10 pm intercooler air temp at 30 deg and colder air it went really hard...

what do you think the getrag 6speed box will handle safely.. power wise...???

with the right fuel what boost level do think is possible with my setup... it has 16psi now with 10 % tolulene....??

thanks for all your help along the way....

Hmmmm...

If you're only ("only"... hehe  ) getting 304rwkw out of 2530s, perhaps my GT-SS turbos are too small :) I was hoping for 300kw @ all four from the GT-SS...

Hmmmm...

i think you would need high boost to get the gt ss turbos to 300rwks. but i think it can be done...

just remember my run was at 16psi on a 32 deg day... so with 20 psi boost should see some more power maybe 330 rwks or so...

i am happy with 2530's they spool at about 4000 to 4200rpm and go crazy after that all the way to 8500rpm...

for circuit work gtss would be a bit less laggy but only maybe 500 rpm....

cheers..

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
