I have entered but guessing I am even further down the waiting list :P Will be good to get some real kms on the car....anybody been to one of these days in a "noisy" car ? How are they with black noise flags?

Briefing notes from MSCA organising this weekend at PI say (see below) Doesn't mention anything about a dB requirement or black flagging etc. Obviously the absence of such specific information doesn't mean you're in the clear, but at least it's not in black and white. Seems at least noise is a sensitive issue and certainly before 9.00. Hope that helps.

So Phillip Island . DO NOT FORGET ABOUT NOISE RESTRICTIONS. No Noise at all before 9am. This is a restriction on all track users and only the V8's and Moto GP people are exempt. The Competitors have to push cars at RAce meetings, and yes, the scrutiny bay is uphill. Obviously cars that are driven to the track may drive , but no revving of engines will be allowed. Trailer cars may be started to unload but must keep revs to an absolute minimum . Any blatant abuse may result in the driver being sent home

Come one BB and Snowie if I can do it with my thing surely you two can get your things up there :P

To the best of my knowledge the only full noise days are PIARC, V8's and bikes any other track day has the usual restrictions including this one. 90db measured at the side of the track (I think 3m away from the track itself but I could be wrong).

Sounds like the 050's are the tyre to have - they appear to be putting out consistently quicker times. I'll be happy to have a reliable day to finish the year off. :P

Well, I will put their noise restrictions under the torch and see what happens

MSCA are generally vintage cars so may do 90dba+ days at PI.

I'm doing MSCA at Sandown on the 5th. One last blast there for the year.

No question they are a great tyre able to put out quick times....however on a heavy car like the R (well my car in particular!) they tend to only give 2 or so hot laps before getting too hot and sliding around. I've found the RE55 is far more consistant over a 5 lap sprint than the A050 at tracks like Sandown and PI.

    • Learned a bit @PranK To add a twist to this take, I've done some further investigation and turns out I don't know if I even have coilovers. I have Mugen Showa on all corners, which appear to be struts / springs online. Someone may be able to correct me if I'm wrong.
    • Well, i've been told it's going to be in Poland around october - november. It should set off by the end of this month. Waiting for it to arrive is the easy part, searching for the right car, wake up in the middle of the night to see the photos and decide whether to bid or not - that was difficult
    • Thanks mate, i'll keep that in mind. Not sure though if the black carpet will fit grey interior. I'd prefer original Stagea set but if i fail to find one in another few weeks, i will probably come back to you. p.s. - is this original, licensed Nismo product?
    • I'm a strong believer that old sports cars should be reserved as weekend cars and owned by mechanically inclined people. The risk-reward ratio is only acceptable under those conditions.
