Hey all, had my power fc pro installed and tuned today with tomei cam gears on my 33gtr, was excited to go and pick her up but...

result was only 201 atwkw, when i first bought the car i dynoed it and made 203.5atwkw

Is it just the tune that sucks, should i go back to the tuner and ask questions or go to a different tuner??

car is stock other then kakimoto exhaust (3 and abit inch) from dumps back high flow cat and boost restrictor removed

Does it feel better? Thats all that matters, different dynos can give vastly different readings, what was the difference between the first run on the current tuners dyno and the end result, thats far more important than a figure it got else where!

Didnt get the first run to compare as i dropped it off early, would it be worth going to a different dyno and having a run??

Feels more torquey and pulls harder (i think)

Had a look throught the RB26 dyno thread and there is a 33GTR with similar mods and has 264kw

Well 264 is probably a bit optimistic... depends on the dyno maybe +/- 15-20rwkw.

240rwkw would sound about right for the mod level.

As stated already - does it feel better? You should feel a noticeable difference. If so, then is mission accomplished IMO.

You don't wanna push stock turbos too hard anyway

Thats all that matters mate, Dyno numbers are just numbers, Ramp rates, incorrect intake temps ect all make a difference, If you really want go and find a place that will give a better number....but it wont make it any faster :P

WHat boost are you running?

Boost is at around 14PSI

I was hoping for around the 230 mark

only difference i believe i can feel is the torque, print out stated 588Nm

hard to judge unless you tell us what mods you have?? also what did your tuner say? did he have any comments?

Mods stated in first post

Power fc

cam gears

kakimoto 3 and abit inch exhaust from dumps back

high flow metal cat

stock everything else

Splitfire coil packs

Exactly, me and a mate were stuffing around with my stock turboed R33, and made 450ish rwkws at 10psi lol

Helps when you stick the intake temp probe on the turbine housing LOL

My old 32 made 750rwkw via a similar method lol

Did you use a reputable tuner? And have you discussed the tune with them?

Around 250rwkw used to be average for Racepace with similar mods to what you have, but it was +/- 10kw. Also dyno's do differ a little so you can get different power levels on different days / places :P

my car made 232kw on 0.9bar on the stock ecu with stock boost control solenoid, everything was stock besides tomei dump pipes and full exhaust

after i got it tuned with a pfc it made 366hp on 1 bar at all 4 hubs so around 260awkw? that was still with no cam gears, will get cam gears installed before the next tune

Used a reputable tuner here in sydney, going to geelong for 3months starting in June might go see racepace while im down there, always admired their work

as long as it feels quicker and makes more torque thats all the matters really

besides you have launch control so learn how to use that and away you go

its great beating cars when you quote less power, it means you are a better driver

ie if you can beat most cars with 200awkw GTR your a good driver :)

exactly. "Seat of the pants" dyno is the one that matters. If it feels quick and responsive, and you enjoy driving it, then that's what you paid for.

Top end power is just a number. Peak power is always very close to redline on a stock setup. How often are you there? Depending on tune, you can have a very responsive car but effectively very low peak power. An example will be my GTS-T come Friday. Currently it's making 284.9rwkw on 15psi. I have swapped the actuator, so I will be getting it retuned on 17/18psi on Friday. I have asked the tuner to go easy up the top of the rev range, and mainly tune for response and torque when the boost comes on...I told him that I don't give two shits if it makes the exact same peak power, it's all about how it feels when it comes on and sticks me to the seat

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
