Ye soz - where it is, as stated, is fine mate.

Im running 270/280rwkw, not a problem - 8,000km's as it is.

What recirc BOV are you using?

GTR BOV's cost for gain, are unbeatable value.

Even a single GTR BOV is good for 300rwkw or so. Much more 2 is advisable as you get a tiny bit of surge (i was when running 24psi/370rwkw on single GTR BOV)

It is currently running a turbosmart supersonic bov & was looking of replacing it with the same brand but in a plumb back system. Are GTR bov alot better in quaility then turbosmart ?

I can't comment on the quality comparison, but I've not heard of one issue with people using GT-R BOV's. When I was looking for one a couple of days ago, I got a heap of people offering to sell me one so you'll have no issues finding it...people run BIG BOOST with these BOVs on their GTRs and never have trouble.

Quick bump to ask something...

So I received the GT-R BOV off a fellow forum member yesterday...fitted it to the car, but didn't get a chance to drive it until work this morning...

First gear change with ANY throttle gave me HEAPS of flutter...gave it a tiny bit more and changed again, more flutter...I was also noticing it would idle anywhere between 1500 - 2000rpm...

Didn't take it into +manifold pressure at all the whole way, and when I pulled up at work I'd done exactly as I thought - left the manifold pressure line to the BOV disconnected. My question is, would this have been running even remotely lean since this was just sucking air when idling? I figured even if it were, it wouldn't have done anything bad since I drove like I didn't even have a right foot all the way to work (only about 5 minute drive so car barely gets warm)

bump again..

After taking the car for a spin back home on my lunch break, I got to hear the actual sound created by the BOV...is it supposed to sound the same as a short sharp whistle that you'd create with your mouth, then just like a quiet hiss until you get back onto boost?

I also noticed that it does not fully close off the hole when there is no pressure applied from either side...does this mean it will be constantly leaking? particularly since I don't run a return pipe?

    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
    • I don't care for these at all, but at least the underside looks straight and not rusty. A good basis for a long life. Many cars from Japan have been lifted with forklifts and f**ked almost irrepairably.
    • Yes, but it's not dumb or dodgy. You can build a perfectly good boost controller from a pressure reg, a relief valve (looks same same as a reg if all from Norgren or SMC, for example) and a check valve. I ran one for years. Only superceded with  EBC because I could get one for cheaps and wanted finer control.   THis mod is certainly not a sketchy boost mod, provided the boost is kept below the "spin to death" threshold of the turbos.
    • With ordering the belt, you're doing water pump and the idler and tensioner at the same time too yes?
    • This is just a dumb way of keeping the wastegate closed to make more boost. Undo it and either follow the factory setup or redo it properly. Manual boost controllers just use a spring preload to determine when to close in response to boost pressure so it no longer vents to atmosphere.
