Im using a dual thermo fan setup on my 52mm radiator in my rb20 r32.

Due to the very limited space I got a Flex-a-lite 420 (thinnest on the market)

http://www.frsport.com/Flex-A-Lite-410-420...FM_p_12555.html

A very cheap and popular one is thermofan setup from AU Falcon. They do a great job, but are quite thick. Google AU Thermofan and you will finda heap of people fitting them into all sorts of cars.

i should have said that i already have 2 12inch fitted, i just don't have a shroud! i don't really want to take the radiator out to fit a shroud so what would the best way to go about it?

You would need to make up a custom one, and even then its not going to work as how its meant to.

Im assuming you have mounted the thermo fans directly onto the radiator? The thermofans need to be spaced off the radiator. The thermofans then allow the fans to pull air using the shroud. By mounting it directly to the radiator and covering the rest with a shroud aint going to achieve much :P

mm that sux, maybe i will wait to i put new coolent in, i will take the whole thing out a do sumthing then

yeah pull it off and do it right! Buy a AU thermo fan setup (beware of the copies floating on ebay) Get a genuine AU thermofan from a wrecker or brand new from Ford. Install it and achieve the following;

thats great, good job looks like it works a treat

I purchased the Flex-a-lite 420 thermofan from USA - 6.7mm thick

As you can see from the pics, it was very very close to my power steering pump.

The AU Thermofans flow a lot more air (close to double) so they are a much better fan setup for quick cooling. I tried doing a similar test as the video above, but mine didnt drop anywhere near as fast. Although mine was in the direct sunlight on a warm day. Couldnt get it below 81degrees on full speed at idle. However, there is a lot of gaps around the radiator which I will need to block off so there is room to improve.

Controller im using is; Spal PWM controller

http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.aspx?p=i...item=FAN-PWM-V3

Read the manual for the features, best on the market in terms of control.

I'll try and get some proper photos up on the weekend.

Hey rekin, got those pics yet? And what temp to u have ur thermos turn on?

nah bro, been raining for the past couple of days. Will have to wait till the sun comes out!

Using the Spal thermofan controller, low temp set at 82deg and high temp at 89deg i think

Thanks how hard is the wiring?

http://www.spalusa.com/pdf/FAN-PWM-V3_SPEC.PDF

Look at Page 19 for wiring diagram for dual thermofan with OEM water temp sensor. The wiring takes some time but it is straight forward.

A dual thermofan setup requires a relay, which i picked up from Jaycar.

SPAL ftw :) I'm using SPAL for mine.

:P does a great job at not draining the battery!

For those who dont know, it turns on one fan at 50% speed and gradually increases the speed to 100% depending if temperature increases. Once it hits the high temp setting, it will turn on the 2nd thermo fan and both will run at 100% speed until 5degree temp drop occurs and turns off the 2nd fan etc.

All explained in the PDF. The idea is not to turn both fans on at 100% when it hits a temp setting as that will just shock the whole electric system.

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
