Well, they probably dont need replacing just yet.

I have to admit i'm a little stuck when it comes to what needs servicing, or what people would like to service, so if anyone who is interested in this day could post what they'd like to get done i can put it all in a list and see what kind of prices i can get, as it is i havnt called anyone yet as i still need to compile all the bits we want, and i'm not too imaginative.

So gentlemen (and ladies) please post what you'd want to service, that way i can get the parts sourced and set a date.

Hornsby Nissan only offers trade price to SAU Members. Any old joe can walk in off the street and get trade price from any Nissan Spare Parts outlet...

However, I have setup a contact at Crows Nest Nissan, who has set up a Skylines Australia account and will give any paying SAU NSW member 15% BELOW TRADE PRICE, but you have to show him your SAU NSW Membership card.

He can order ANYTHING from Nissan or NISMO catalogs (for any Nissan).

This is a great idea, I had dreamed of something like this, but more from the idea of installing simple mods (like boost controllers, bleed valves, cam gears, pod filters etc) that the forums are always full of questions about.

Bring it on, there are probably a few of those travelling parts vans that would be happy to stock up on Nissan specific parts, and then show up with a cc machine, and sell from the carpark.

I was under the impression that most people would know what they want to do and what parts/lubricants they will need and just rock up with everything in the boot and spend the day servicing...?

How many of these vans are going to stock 10 different brand/models of Oils, 10 different Air filters etc etc.

OK, due to popular demand...(well due to SImon asking me a few times cause i keep forgetting... lol)...

A GENERAL SERVICING GUIDE:

1. Change Oil

2. Change Oil Filter

3. Change Fuel FIlter

4. Clean/Change Air filter

5. Change Spark plugs (where necessary).

6. Check brakes, pads, suspension and handbrake.

7. Lubricate door hinges

(for the more challenging)

8. Check gearbox fluid level

9. Check diff fluid level

10. Check exhaust system

Do we have a contact at Hornsby Nissan for SAU people? I need to ring someone to get a ECU Wiring Harness wire colour thingy to hookup my RSM and I thought i'd give them a call ?

ok had a chat to UAS the other day about this.

They seem pretty interested in supplying what ever bits they can should we ask them and said that a discount prolly wouldnt be a prob.

Now i also realised that trying to organise parts for an unknown number of cars is not really going to work as the odds of being understcoked (leaving annoyed club members) or over stocked (leaving a broke and annoyed me) are pretty high.

So heres what i'm thinking (and working on putting into action). Below is a section from Dj's service lift.

1. Change Oil

2. Change Oil Filter

3. Change Fuel FIlter

4. Clean/Change Air filter

5. Change Spark plugs

6. Check brakes, pads, suspension and handbrake.

7. Change gearbox fluid

I'm going to organise the parts required for the above (bar break pads... unless you all convince me otherwise) as a "premium pack".

In this "pack" will be the best quality parts for the above we can get (for example motzul oils etc etc i havnt decided what sparkies to get... heh i cant find a threat where ppl agree one way or another on copper or iridium).

Now i'm going to offer these packs ONLY to those who ask for it pay in advance. Others will need to source there own parts although if i'm asked close enough to when i go pick the bits up i might be able to grab a few extras.

Ok now i know we have a fair few ppl interested in the day in general, how many of you are interested in getting a "pack"? I'm not sure how many members SNSW has so i'm not going to set a minimum number right now, although i'll set down 10 as a rough guide.

As for the date, well i dont want to start the click ticking right now. So once i get 10 or so ppl interested in the above i'll check with UAS for a price and time needed to get the bits and confirm a date.

Also keep in mind that this ISNT a totally closed event, anyone can come, but the part packs will be for RB engines only. So if u have a friend who's somehow crammed a 26dett under the bonnet of his minnie, bring him along, and if instead he wants to service his old sigma.... thats fine.... he just has to bring his own parts.

Oh and one more thing.... Can anyone think of any weird or wonderful tools that we might want that one wouldnt normally have? I'm going to grab a oil filter wrench during the week but i'm thinking there might be a few tools we havnt thought of.

      It doesn't look like there's a lot of options out there these days, and what's out there is performance oriented aftermarket stuff (with the GTR markup) I wonder if there are other cars with similar springs, after all its just a matter of length, diameter and stiffness. Alternatively, I did see coil spacers. Probably not the best option, but could be serviceable too.

      Final thought for now. Obviously the reason I was in there was to check everything is OK cooling wise, pull out the radiator to flush it etc, but I have to say the factory has done a hell of a lot of thinking about air management in a way they never did back in the R chassis days. The Redsport/400rs have (from engine forward) 2 large shrouded fans - radiator (incl AT cooler) - AC condenser - Intercooler Heat Exchanger and Oil cooler. There are shrouds and foam around everything to keep it pretty well sealed, which is good in that they have it sorted from factory, and bad in that I can't make any meaningful improvements there. The second red sport pump water pump is mounted in front of the rad in the airflow, so I will see if there is somewhere else I can stash that (unlikely, it is tight in there). The horns which are also in the rad airflow will be moved somewhere else, and hey who needs 2 when 1 would work For track days, I can also remove the lights which would block some airflow. Factory has already taken the smart option of ducting all air that went through the oil cooler down and out of the engine bay. This pic is taken from below looking up, so air comes through the cooler at the top of the pic then hits the shroud and is directed down and out of the engine bay through the engine bay lower cover Which of course is good for oil temps, but doesn't help the rad as it diverts 10-20% of airflow away So, no big improvements to be made here, I'll flush the rad out and put it all back together.....

      Next..... That escalated quicker than an Elon and Donald break up! I'll post up a specific DIY for radiator removal on these, but all I'm saying is that if you get a workshop to change your radiator for any reason and they give you a $1000 bill for it, go and hug them and thank them for not charging all the hours it took.....what a bastard of a job. I'll make some adjustments as I put it all back for faster access in the future, but it was a nightmare.
