I've been in the market for a while now as I didn't want to rush into the whole thing and purchase a lemon by mistake. I've finally come accross a skyline that looks like a pretty good buy to me, but then again I don't know all the ins and outs of skylines like you guys do. Of course I'll get RACQ to come and look at the car if I go to look at it, problem is it's going to cost about $300 to get it checked out and it's all the way up in Gympie (I live in Brisbane). Anyway here's there link:

Thanks ;)

Are you scared off by having to travel 90 minutes to buy a car?

You should not be worried by spending $300 on what could be a $14500 purchase.

Are you going to be happy paying for 20" tyres?

imo - keep looking... mileage is pretty high, rims are way too big (big $$$ when it comes time to replace them, not to mention the ride would be quite unforgiving) the colour just screams attention.

not to mention non turbo with a gtr badge.

but hey, if it checks out, and you like it go for it..

auto and gtr drivetrain???? i thought they only built the gt4's in manual, or do they have same running gear as the s2 stageas do????

also car looks decent, but my mate has a red one too, but a 4 door and the paint is a real big pain to keep perfect, red is a very fadeing colour, leave it in the sun for a bit too long over a couple of months and youll get fading.

find a different one imo, also do you guys in brisbane also get hasseled if your rims are too big???

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha, that's one of the natro's with the GTR badge that i have mentioned a few times on here.

from what i have seen of the car the owner tends to drive it pretty sensibly, but i have only seen it a few times on the road.

if you wanted to know what it's like before driving to gympie, i could go and check it out for you if you like. i won't have time this weekend to do it though. driving to gympie isn't exactly a long drive though. i drive down to brissy and back all the time in a single day. hell i've had to do trips down just to drop mum at the hospital, so i've gone down and back without hopping out of the car. i've bought a few of my cars from brissy and done a trip down and back to look at them.

I know Gympie isn't that far away it's just that I don't want to waste going up there if it turns out to be a lemon.

On the plus side, if it works out to be a good 'un and Marc is willing to look at it for you (on that score), you can bargain harder than if the car was in Brissie.

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
