I have just been told by the company doing the RWC on my Stagea, it needs new bushes on the castor arms. I have been told the only place they can find them is from japan which will take 2 weeks.

Does anyone else have a reliable source to get these parts locally? (ie can you fit new bushes to the original arms)

Any help appreciated.

Also, the car has been listed as 'too low'. I'm pretty sure it's just the factory Autech Axis springs, but has anyone else had experience with the autech version and minimum height requirements?

They can be replaced. Try giving Fulcrum a call, or Wholesale Suspension in Sydney on 02 4721 2187. They have experience with NM35's. If you need something picked up & forwarded, they're near me, I'd be happy to help. What height are they saying the car is? You may have scored some coilovers ;) .

Cheers, Dale.

Thanks Dale! I've given my contacts at Fulcrum a call, and they will get back to me tomorrow. Same goes for Wholesale.

They are saying the car is below the 100mm I know they aren't coil overs, as I looked at the car a couple of weeks ago. To me it looks like the factory Autech springs/shocks. (based on my huge amount of experience at looking at stageas at auction from photos... :bunny: )

Here are some photos of the car in Japan...

That looks stock height to me. My car is significantly lower than yours (hub centre to arch 360mm front, 350mm rear) , and the lowest point on my bodywork is still 150mm from the ground. Maybe ask them for some hub center to arch measurements?

+1

You should have heaps of room under there Nik and certainly more than 100mm.

As per PM, yep, blue with yellow springs is stock for Autech M35's.

Hard to tell from the pic, but is that a stock exhaust? If not, it may sit a little low ;) (Hey, it is all I can think of looking at the rest of the car!)

That's what I thought...

Great big stinky poo poo heads.

Is ride height part of the compliance? I thought it was part of the RWC?

Regardless, if I think they are taking me for a ride, I might pull the car after they comply and get my local mechanic to do the RWC.

Yeah Im with Andy, that height looks fine. Mine looked SERIOUSLY slammed when I got it, and it was just under 10cm off the ground at the front - and thats with a low hanging body kit and s-tune springs.

If you get stuck I sure there is someone out there that will lend you there stock suspension.....you can borrow my AR-X shocks......just got no springs.

To be quite honest that car looks fine.....I would argue the point with em!

Well, went and visited the car today. The compliance workshop is right, it's pretty low at the front

Looks like i'm going to have to take someone up on the offer of using springs to raise the front of the car. It is sitting low, around 90mm where the front A arm is, and where the front plastic 'tray panel' is under the engine (what the hell are they called again??)

Also the exhaust is 10mm too low around the middle, so hoping the new springs on the front will sort this out.

Yep, if they are being a bit difficult Nik, you can use my stock RS suspension to raise the height a little.

Please!? Let me know what I owe you... (or what you drink?)

let me know when I can pick them up etc.

Anyone in Melbourne have a contact for Springs for the front (and rear perhaps?) of an M35 stagea?

I might have to buy some King Springs if no one can help me out with some factory springs...

Does anyone know if Lovells or Kings make springs for the Stagea?

 King Springs? Really??

OR you could possibly shell out for some aftermarket springs (Eibach, RSR, Espelir etc) all round :blink:click here for an idea of what is available

If you can make it to Mt. Eliza tomorrow, I will have my stock front suspension for you to borrow, possible?

Does anyone also recommend coil overs and what do you run?

I got a quote for Eibach springs and they would be $1000 for a set of four. Lead time would be months... HAHAHhahhahhahah

I actually have the Espelir springs front and rear at the moment. Are they Factory Autech springs?

No

Coilovers - Nismo, BC or Tien are the most popular, with the latter two being adjustable and the BC's the best value for money.

There should be a set of Eibach springs in the link in my previous post, certainly shouldn't be that expensive!

    • Was there ever a model of the Stagea m35 that didnt have a badge on the grill? I thought I saw that somewhere, some aero edition or something? I cant find it again? davemoto
    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
