It's back!!

The red barge, as pictured, is finally on the road with a freshened engine carrying Arias 80 thou forgies, GTR conrods and fuel pump (noisy bugger that has delivered 316rwkw), balance, O rings, lightened fly, desurged head oil gallery, adjustable caster rods, ACL race bearings, Hybrid 800hp fmic with piping welded by moi and SAU stickers side and rear (didn't think too many would see the front :D).

The forgies are quiet and the perfomance gods took notice and said it was good.

Soon to follow run in are some more adjustable suspension bits (camber mostly) and pineapples, Hicas removal bracket when the thread tap arrives, Power FC and some whup-ass tyres.

I want to thank Gary, aka Sydneykid, for advice on the right things to do, some of which are outstanding at this stage but a budget is a budget, Daniel from Autobarn Epping for recommendations on the machining work (Duggans Balancing Reservior) and other help, oh, and p*ssing off to QLD when I needed new GTR rod bolts....and I swear the idiots at Northern Nissan Bundoora are the most useless bast*rds god ever shovelled guts into after ordering the wrong bolts that should be in a lawnmower AND telling me I was wrong, then getting 10 bolts and expecting me to PAY extra after offering me a price. At least they sent the cutest parts runner in Melbourne to deliver :D the other 2 bolts.

I also want to thank all the good people of SAU for the inspiration to do something a little special when the sad moment came to retire another set of pistons.

So if you see me comin' wave....and lock up the wimmin folk.

i took it down the drags to deflower my drag-virginity .... first drag ...car fine .... second drag "um lauren there was a bit of black smoke coming outta your car" ..... mechanic was there ... said car was ok as soon as it starts blowing white smoke then we worry. Went to stage up for third drag ... car was coughin n spluttering n idling weird ..... i apparently pissed black smoke all down the 1/4. First we thought turbo .... but it made a bit of boost on way home so we did a compression test  Number 4 piston died.

Car was still driveable so i was limping it too n from work til i could pay for the rebuild ..... but one day i came across this Silvia .... and i couldnt help myself ..... i just had to go the chop ..... but 4 secs in ..... i look in rear vision mirror and all i see is black smoke ... luckily iwasnt far from home ... i got it home .... restarted it the next morning and the revs just died.

They just pulled my car apart last night ..... luckily no damage to the block ... but yeah 5 broken pistons :(

Good news Geoff :/ My forgies arent far away either ..... managed to break 5 outta 6 pistons .... not a bad effort from a chick :(
Lauren, you are DANGEROUS, but you can be my wingman(girl) anyday!!! Although, I now have 6 to my record :(. Is 5 automatically an ace? Simonster?

I'm confused as to why it was blowing black smoke. Usually you get black from overfuelling and white/bluish from oil...from vast experince at blowing up everything from lawnmowers to 823hp v10 twin supercharged leopard tank engines (each pot is equivalent to a 186ci holden motor)

So what slugs did you go for and whos doing the rebuild.

Well yeah it was bluey black ...... same as your forgies i think .... Aries? SST are doing the rebuild .... Ant is working on my car which is one of the best in the West :(

hehe nah im not dangerous .... im a tame little driver :/

Yeh sure...Lethal Lauren.

Maybe the black smoke is from the clutch???? You know how girlies are rumoured to ride them a bit :run: .

I would seriously recommend a similar build to mine as the engine is as smooth as now and has heaps of power even on std boost. Series 1.5 'puter tho.

I can't wait to PFC after the run in. It now just lights up when rolling in 2nd at 40 and spins all the way to redline. The gtr rods will be a bonus for higher rpm so I will make maybe 280-290kmh and around 280 rwkw which is almost too much for track without slicks.

So long as uyou beat the silvia thats all that matters :D

Nice work on the 5 pistons though!! Pretty fair effort!! What times did u end up pulling down the 1/4???

Will do on the hp when done, but I don't drag. To setup for a decent time is not real compatible with circuit and vv.

No clutch....did you take the handbrake off? Just covering all the bases here. I got my girlie an auto gts and V8 soarer so she wouldn't have a clutch to burn out :D

Nothing wrong with her driving tho.

14.8 but it was my first ever drag .... then the car became unhealthy .... wondered on the 3rd run why it was pulling an N/A time when i launched it harder and actually tried. :D

Should be good for mid 13s tho .... rebuild nearly complete so will run it in then take it down n try, try again.

    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
    • It's been quite the ordeal but hey, at least you figured it out.
    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
