ok so i guess you all remember how my intercooler copped a tow ball not long ago and i have been waiting for insurance etc etc, well it got assessed last week n while i was there the guy just kept asking me why its costing $1750 for a replacement intercooler kit, i told him about 30 times that it comes from japan is a brand new kit blah blah, at first the idiot thought it was my radiator!!!

anyways i get a call from him today saying he doesnt want to go through my nominated place (UPI) as he found somewhere closer to me and cheaper that can 'repair' the cooler

he said they will be able to replace the core with a brand new core and it will be good as new, so of course i asked if they were buying brand new TRUST V-SPL cores form japan, and he said he didnt know, i asked the location of the placem he said brunswick

so i turned on my boost n started to turn red, trying not to scream at him explaining that they would have $20 truck cores lieing in their bedrooms that they will take out my lovely designed TRUST core n replace with some dodgy aussie shit that wont do 1/10 the job, he just didnt know wtf i was talking about n kept explaining this radiator place claimed they've fixed hundreds of intercoolers etc, and i was saying yer and i bet the cars belonged to a lot of nuff nuff VL drivers that dont care as long as their car sounds 'fulsick moit' (sorry for generalising im just angry)

so yer in the end he cracked it at me and just said 'well fine take it all the way down to morrabin to get fixed, i was trying to make it easier for you.... i was like wtf, but you cant promise me im getting another brand new V-SPL intercooler kit from brunswick and he said true and that was basically it, so i WILL be getting my V-SPL kit from UPI when i head down there AAMI are calling them etc saying that they can go ahead and replace it blah blah

w00t, end spiel ;)

feel better now ;)

People that work at insurance companies are like cops, 90% of em dont know shit about cars and they are the people trying to tell us what we can and cant do with our cars! :bs!:

Insurance assessors don't know jack about anything. When I was a Pro cyclist (a few kg lighter and no stuffed back then) a removalist tried to twist the headstem of my track cycle sideways and snapped the rim clean in half...and the assessor was saying "It's just a bike...why does a new rim cost $600 to replace?" Well new aero blade spokes for $80 and the rim was $400 and the buildup with wired and soldered one cross was $120. "but it's only a pushbike"

They have no idea of a quality components value and I'm glad you won DJ.

First like to say that i agree with ya 100% in fighting for the Trust cooler, as you had out-laid all that money for one.

But, for those who have not used truck cores doen't knock it till ya have experienced one and found it bad, first hand. My car has been running with a truck core for the last year and a bit, and the inlet temps are always at least a couple of degrees below ambient. Even Sam (Dr. Drift) was surprised how low the inlet temp was (compared to ambient), when i gave him a left home from the last GOR cruise :D.

yep you were happy wit yours and i know you have been since u had it, but remember my VMS cooler ? hehe im sure u do how could u have missed it LOL, so yer thats the only reason i was so angry at them

and im not insured with AAMI, im actually with Just Cars (AAMI anyways) but yer the dude who hit me claimed it from his policy

Nathan, i totally agree with you buddy. If i spent $$$$$ on anything and it got damaged by some f@rkwit that couldn't park, i too would accept nothing less than the same quality product, and there isn't alot that match the R&D of a TRUST ic.

I was refering to Rob's sarcastic remark :). I know he was only f@rking around. But truck cores are not all that bad.

You tell'em Noof!!! about time that was sorted! I have had assesors tell me that i will not see a cent from a write off because the insured at fault was drunk! she was asleep! not drunk! I could have killed him! and if i remember his name at a c0cktail party one day he will enjoy a smashed tooth daccari, with a testicular twist!!!

wid or widout da sexy biaches, you is a well sick ****.

oweva, feel free to adorn your beast wid well fit eye candy so we may all enjoy, and of course dis will increase your status as a pimp!! aiiiiiiii

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
