what engine/turbo/suspension setup are your running btw..??

Well..

Engine & Turbo

Rebuilt RB20DET (metal gaskets, machined crank, honed rods, new pistons)

HKS Turbo (model has slipped my mind as was done before I bought car)

Sard 550cc injectors

Splitfire Coils

Z32 AFM

Nismo Fuel Pressure Reg

Nismo Fuel Pump

FMIC

Greddy Dump Pipe

3" Turbo-back Exhaust with 4 1/2 inch performance cat (3 inch inlet/outlet)

HD Clutch

GReddy short shift

GReddy Profec B II EBC

Apexi turbo timer

Stock gearbox

Stock LSD

Nistune

Suspension

Stock

Fronts fine

Rears are shot

May have left one or two things off but thats about it

so why are running all of that brand name gear and yet running crap tyres and stock suspension...

you dont know what turbo your running? and a HKS not making boost until 4300rpm, thats not that great...

that would feel like driving a sponge... makes no sense what so ever to not do suspension work first...

Ok many things...

1) It makes boost at 3200rpm, full boost at 4300rpm

2) Have you seen the price of rubber these days? And...i'm not doing any track work yet...Bridgestones are fine if everyone is saying that get same/more traction with sumitomos

3) HKS GT28R or something

what about suspension & brakes and, I dont think just adding coilovers is called an upgrade to the suspension on their own without being setup,

then there is bushes and alignments (and some sort of adjustable parts, castor & camber), and setting up suspension and alignment does not mean going to jax tyres, I mean a serious alignment by a proper suspension workshop...

Yeah I have the stock coilovers that came on all R32 GTSTs

4 pots on front, stock discs

2 pot on rears, stock discs

I think I'm going to...

those tyres are hopeless, get yourself some kumho ku36 or federal 595s at the least.

if you have stock rear suspension i dont see how u could have negative camber unless someone has put lower springs on the factory strut.

that power shouldnt promote any wheelspin on decent tyres and correct wheel alignment.

not having a dig just letting you know you could easily be putting this power and slightly more to the ground IF you buy decent tyres and work out why u have negative camble on untouched suspension??

Coilovers (36 way adjustable eliminating need for adjustable castor/camber arms)

umm wow, who told you that one....

you need to read and learn way more before you do anything...

stock 16 year old brakes - fail

stock 16 year old suspension - fail

thinking BC coilovers will do everything - complete idiocy

seriously a car with only 150rwkw but a half decent suspension and brake setup would embarass you....

coilovers dont do castor adjustment on any car..., do you even know what castor is?

36 way adjustments in your hands would mean it would clearly be setup wrong.

I think I'm going to...

no (thats wrong) Adjustable coil overs are height and damper adjustable.

you need adjustable arms if u wan to pull the camber back out of a lowered car.

caster is generally making reference to the front castor angle (you dont need to be worrying about this)

You're talking out your arse son.

Just pulled the first height and damper thread I found.

except im not. i have adjustable arms in my car son.

aside from front coil overs to suit nissan sil/180. which can adjust camber.

how exactly do u plan to adjust camber and castor on the rear of your skyline using your coil overs???

No its a shit take...what you reckon?

Quick to jump on the defensive much?

Oh...is this in your R31?

Nice cover up. Pity he's a moderator and can clearly see what you originally wrote. Abusing the mods will get you no where.

the reason I asked about a piss take is because it's the third thread in almost as many weeks I have read with someone asking this question. I have X amount of power and I keep skidding everywhere. Granted, the last guy was in the wet. I was only checking to make sure you weren't having a joke.

There is ample responses above to give you the information you already wanted to hear. You only wanted people to tell you what you already knew.

1. Learn to drive

2. If you can't handle the power, down tune it until you get used to how to control it

3. Put on some better tyres

option 3 will pretty much cancel out options 1 and 2.

too much power, not enough experience, and poor suspension/tyres

yeah you will need more than some you beaut coilovers that come in orange to actually make the suspension better....

your wrong, we're right...

read it properly

i put brackets in the post so u understand what i meant lol. im only offering my insight mate.

NO, (coilovers dont adjust camber castor) adjustable coil overs are height and damper adjustable

1) Did you know that people have reasons for asking questions? Apologies for reacting the way I did but smart ass comments aggrevate the shit out of decent people.

2) Just because you can't see the validity in someone's point doesn't mean the thousands of other forum members don't...as can be seen from Bubbas comment earlier.

3) when reading text, tone and manner cannot be interpreted so the way you read something may not be the way it was intended to be read.

4) Putting on better tyres will eliminate my inability to know how to drive (just showed your maturity there)

5) Never said I couldn't handle the power, never even said I didn't like the wheels spin, and never said I couldn't drive

6) good to see your a mind reader. might PM you next time I need to make a really important decision.

7) Lucky number 7...means I stop wasting my time typing responses to your shitty talk.

Over and Out...

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
