Basically I put a power FC in my 34 GTR just to see if it works...and it does. When I put the standard computer back in the keys were now unsynced and I can't start the car, so I had to put the FC back in.

Nissan here is useless and don't know how to recode the keys and I am 1000k's away from somewhere to tune the FC. I will get it tuned..probably Marchish.

I have been told the main difference btween a factory ECU tune and a FC base map is mostly the timing as the fuel map is similar.

Attached is screens from my FC. My car is a basic pod/exhaust car so can anyone compare their maps if they have a similar state of mods and see if there is anything I can change?

as don data has said, the base map should be fine if you are normal and dont trash it and keep it on stock boost

using a "touched up" tune is just going to give you a false sense of "tuned" and youll trash it

putting the engine at risk and everything else. if it was me, stick with the base map, run low boost and get it done properly

status wouldnt suggest it if it wasnt safe paulr33....i think he knows what he is talking bout.. and would be more safe then any base map crap

This. That's a good offer from status. I believe that the Status tune will pretty much be the base map with far less aggressive timing, since timing is the thing that makes an untuned PFC unsafe.

no, they screw into a bung like the factory narrowband sensor. they can directly replace the stock one and still work with the factory ECU. however if you want to run a wideband o2 in the first place, there's a good chance you don't even use the factory ECU anymore...

stear clear of innovate. old ones are good but they're newer stuff is very unreliable and buggy.

Yeah my LC-1 has a recurring bug, but i 'downgraded' to the old firmware and works like a treat.

having known this before i would've gone for a AEM UEGO, but at the end of the day, i've got a wideband that works fine, just took a little more fuckin around.

Sorry. I'm sort of confused. Wouldn't it be waaaaay easier to have a device to check air fuel ratio's without changing the factory setup which may affect the way it is tuned to start with. I always see tuners use simple ones you clip to the tail pipe and do an on the spot reading. Wouldn't a gte computer use the sensors for tuning. Why would I replace one just for a stand alone meter??

standard o2 sensor is only used during light load cruising at a constant throttle. with all aftermarket computers you can and should turn it off completely whilst tuning anyway (which is when you'd be using a wideband) so its very easy to use it in the standard spot. tailpipe clips are easier for tuners because its quicker and the dynos setup that way, on the road its easier in the standard spot.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
