Unfortunately that will be hard to achieve.

A stock R33 GTST does around 6-7 seconds depending on where you read the information from and given how old the cars are now the results can vary quite a bit from one stock car to the next.

do you mean a chip or an aftermarket ecu/remap type of thing. any "chip" that you simply plug in or have soldered in that already has the tune on it is the absolute worst thing you could even think about wasting money on.

Mad082 I have found a cheaper way to INCREASE POWER high octane fuel additive!!! Lol I seriously think this suff works there around 20bucks a bottle though I couldn't imagine how hard your car would go if you use a full bottle of the suff with a 1/4 of a tank left

from what I've read there's potential of fouling plugs by using fuel additives like that.

the money is best spent on putting 98 RON premium fuel in cause additives aren't the best way to up your fuel's octane rating.

Well I notice alittle more power. After octane booster so that's my opinion. I don't think it would damage the engine as it is only increasing the octane in your fuel. As long as you don't go crazy with the stuff. < I don't care if you do<< you should be right.. Try it your self I bet you'll see an improvement in what ever you drive. it cleans Ur fuel injectors to..

Do you feel a difference when you run 98 octane fuel compared to running 95 octane fuel?

higher rating octane fuel will give ZERO power increases in a correctly operating engine if the engine was designed for the lower octane fuel. if however you start increasing the timing then you can run more advanced timing with the higher octane fuel so you can actually see a small increase in power (to put this into perspective, a natro SR20 will gain 3hp from about 2 or 3 degrees more timing. personally tested on back to back runs).

if your car was designed to run on premium and you run it on unleaded then you will see a bigger difference when you go back to premium after running unleaded.

i think a lot of people don't realise what the octane rating actually means. it simply means that the higher the number, the harder it is to ignite the fuel. octane rating has pretty much nothing to do with the actual explosive energy of the fuel. in most cases higher octane fuels have a lower energy output.

I just want enough power in case a xr6 or a sv6 comes next to me on a race track;). That's all I want 0 to 100 in 7seconds. :)

If it was really for a racetrack you would do a bazillion other things to the car before even looking at power :)

If it's for traffic light heroism...a proper LSD...big tyres...will do more for your car than any power mods. Keep in mind that your launches and shifts will have to be flawless to keep up with automatic variants of the cars you've mentioned, as I even had to try a little bit when my GTS-T was standard. But really, don't bother with it...it's not worth spending the money on a car that is so readily available in a much faster model (turbo) when you get off your P's. If you want to beat those cars in a race, go get a motorbike.

So at 80kms it would almost act as a turbo would it work in a non turbo and would the engine be able to deal with all that extra airflow

Lol doesn't quite work like that unfortunately.

Yes it would be a good thing. You would be supplying colder (denser) cleaner air to the engine. Maybe gain a couple of horsepower at certain RPM points. Would it be anything you would notice? Nope.

Seriously, you have to understand, the RB25DE is not an engine that you can get power out of without spending a lot of money. They are a small displacement N/A engine in a heavy car. With all the bolt on mods you could think of you would be lucky to gain 30-40hp (which is probably what the engine has lost with it's age). Have a look at the dyno thread in the N/A section. All the power figures are poor. Only a select few who have wanted to spend larger amounts of money have gone beyond the norm, which is still less than what a GTST would make.

Save your money, sell the car once you get off your P's and buy something else.

I bet you most of these people who want the fastest P plate legal car on the road, and start these threads asking for ways to increase power, have not honed in their drag racing skills (which is evidently a free modification) with the current vehicle setup. So much more to be had from doing that.

the gains would be minimal (under 5hp). i doubt you'd see even 1psi of pressure.

    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!  
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
